OV NEWS and EVENTS
The SBA test is important and mandatory assessment that provides valuable insights into your student's academic progress and helps us ensure they receive the best education possible. Across the state, 6th-8th graders will be taking the English Language Arts and Mathematics Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA). In addition to these two tests, 8th graders will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
All students need to bring to following during testing days:
- A district approved Dell laptop/Chromebook - fully charged
- A charging cord for the laptop/Chromebook
- Wired headphones. If you have WIRED headphones, please bring them for testing. We have a limited number of headphones that students can use. Wireless headphones are not permitted.
The testing schedule is as follows:
- May 20th - May 24th: State Testing (SBA) for ELA (Language Arts)
- May 28th - May 31st: State Testing (SBA) for MATH
- June 3rd - June 7th: State Testing (WCAS/Science) for 8th Grade ONLY and SBA Makeup Testing (all grades)
During testing days, it is crucial for students to arrive at school on time. We kindly request that you avoid scheduling any absences or taking your students out of school during the SBA testing days: May 20th - June 7th.
If absences cannot be avoided, we request that you inform us in advance so that we can make appropriate arrangements for your child to complete the assessment at a later time. Attendance phone number is (425) 366-5205 or email OVattendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu
Please contact your student's counselor for inquiries on State Testing (scroll down for counselor's contact info).
⛔ CHROMEBOOKS are NEEDED for STATE TESTING!! ⛔
When students forgot their school-provided DELL laptops at home, they are given an HP Chromebook as a loaner. We urgently need these borrowed devices returned to OV FOCUS ROOM so we can assist other students. Please take a look at the device picture to get idea of what a school-issued Chromebooks look like.
Overdue Chromebooks can result in lunch detentions until the device is returned or result in a $350 fine if lost, stolen, or simply not returned.
Please help us by checking with your student to see if they have a loaner HP Chromebook at home and make sure they return it to OV FOCUS ROOM.
Both OV BAND and COLOR GUARD won FIRST PLACE at the SEQUIM PARADE!!
🥳 CONGRATULATIONS 🥳
A note from Mr. Ray, OV Band Director:
WHAT A STUNNING PERFORMANCE AT THE SEQUIM PARADE!!
It was a really hot day but, but these kids stepped up like champions. They were well-behaved and played their heart out. I personally think they performed better than our Spokane parade last year!
My appreciation to the OV Music Boosters for doing a great job taking care of the band. Record numbers of Costco Pizza were devoured! I also want to thank our wonderful office staff, administrators, and teachers for all the continued support. Way to go OV!!
GOOD LUCK OV BAND and COLOR GUARD at the Selah Parade on Saturday!!
National Junior Honor Society
PLEASE READ AN IMPORTANT CHANGE TO THIS FIELD TRIP:
NJHS members will have a field trip to Kamiak HS on May 30th after school for an ice cream social!
Unfortunately, the district can not provide us with a bus. Student will need to arrange their own transportation to be drop-off at and pick-up from Kamiak.
Drop off: 3 PM
Pick up: 4 PM
Field trip permission form is NO LONGER needed.
We are excited to visit Kamiak, meet other NJHS clubs, and the NHS members at the High School!
The library will soon be closed to assist with make up testing.
All books checked-out or renewed this week are due on June 7th. Students can return their library books to the bin outside the library and get new books by putting them on hold. They can also read e-books or listen to audiobooks at home using SORA.
Please contact Mrs. Peterson if you have any questions.

BREAKFAST & LUNCH MENU
Meet CHRISTY MARTIN: Senior Paraeducator
Hi everyone! 👋 I’m Christy Martin, and I have been a paraeducator in the Mukilteo School District for 28 years. What I love most about being a paraeducator is the opportunity to work one-on-one with students. I enjoy leading reading groups and watching the progress my students make. Seeing them succeed truly makes me happy.
Prior to being a paraeducator, I spent 10 years as a music teacher. I enjoyed putting on musicals and understand the immense effort they require (that’s why I’m always so impressed with the quality of OV musicals!). I left my position as a music teacher to spend more time raising my family. But, I am an educator at heart. Being a paraeducator allows me to balance my love for teaching with my commitment to my family.
I graduated from Mariner HS and am an OV alumna (Once a Pirate, always a Pirate!). In my spare time, I enjoy going on a hike and reading mystery and historical fiction books. I love spending time with my husband of 45 years, our 3 adult daughters, and 10 grandchildren.
Fun fact about me: I was in the audience for the last taping of "Happy Days" and met Henry Winkler!
Note: Christy Martin is currently being nominated for Lighthouse Awards by the Mukilteo School District. We are rooting for you, Christy!!
