8th grade FIELD TRIP to PA Renaissance Faire
Picture Retakes Thursday, October 16th
Picture retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th during all lunch periods. Students will be called by table during their scheduled lunch period and should listen for reminders after eating. Please be sure to remind your students to take advantage of this opportunity if they missed the original picture day or if they would like to have their photo retaken.
No Fugett Students Should be Walking Across to East
I would like to provide some clarity regarding the Fugett and East buildings and address a safety concern we are seeing with a handful of students.
Fugett students riding the bus to school must report directly to Fugett through the gymnasium entrance. Once students enter Fugett, they are not permitted to cross into East.
Students getting dropped off at the front of East with an older sibling are still able to walk through to Fugett, but must remain at Fugett. Any students not following these procedures will be addressed according to the code of conduct.
iHistory
The Gettysburg Address contest will be held on Friday, December 6 in West Chester. Any interested 8th grader should go to Mr. Swift’s room 115 at lunch beginning Tuesday, October 8 for practice.
Jazz Band Auditions
Auditions for the Fugett Jazz Band will be held October 21-28 and open to anyone who plays piano, guitar, drum set, bass guitar, double bass, or any band instrument.
Audition music and sign-up information is posted on Schoology. Interested students should sign-up for an audition time and begin practicing the music for the audition.
For questions, reach out to Mrs. Yagel in Room 231, or at jyagel@wcasd.net

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
🚨🆕 Attendance 🆕🚨
Please use this FMSAttendance@wcasd.net email to communicate all attendance information to the FMS main office.
Lateness will be handled in accordance with the WCASD Attendance Policies, and PA State Laws. Eight (8) unexcused lateness will result in an after-school detention for the student. A tardy is defined as a minimum of one minute of lateness to school. Late arrivals to school due to medical appointments (doctor, dentist, orthodontist, etc.) will be excused (ET) with a note from the practitioner. Unexcused tardy students must arrive by the end of 1st period (9:01am) in order to participate in their sport for that day.
Drop Off
Please wait until 7:00 to let children out of the car. We have staff ready to welcome students every morning, but this role does not start until 7:00.
Pick Up
Thank you for following the circle pick up path. This traffic pattern is in place to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Drop Off/Pick Up for Families with Students at EHS and FMS
To serve you better, families may drop off and/or pick up East and Fugett students at either building, as long at you are using the typical drop off/pick up location.

Ineligibility Reminder
Any student who is failing (grade below 70) at least two major subjects, or at least one major subject and two minor subjects (such as a Unified Arts class like Art or PE), by noon on Friday is ineligible to attend sports practices and games, clubs, and any extracurricular, school-sponsored activities which occur from the next Sunday through Saturday of the following week. This would include musical performances*, drama, dances, and sporting events.
*Culminating musical performances related to Chorus, Band, and Orchestra are not subject to ineligibility as they are curricular events and not extracurricular activities. Chorale, Jazz Band, Drama Club, and Select Strings are extra-curriculars and should be handled the same as sports and other clubs.
o For any families looking to attend an EHS football game this year, please review the attached ticketing and attendance expectations. All tickets are purchased online.
6th Grade Intramural Soccer
Dear Students and Parents, Welcome to 6th Grade Intramural Soccer! We are looking forward to a great few weeks with you! Co-ed intramurals will be fun and a great learning experience. We will be learning proper stretching and training techniques, running drills, skill drills, positioning, scrimmaging, sportsmanship, and teamwork! We will be holding practice after school from 2:15 – 4:00 pm according to the below schedule.
We will be playing either at the fields on Paoli Pike or the Price Fields across Ellis Lane. Please make sure that your ride is here promptly! You should be dressed properly for practice: It will be getting VERY cold outside, wear layers! I would also recommend wearing a thin pair of gloves! Shin guards and cleats are not mandatory, but are recommended! Bring a SNACK to eat before we begin. Good snack ideas include pretzels, a peanut butter sandwich, fruit, juice, etc. You should also bring bottled water as we do a lot of running! Water will not be provided by the school. Please keep in mind the district’s activity fee. This will need to be paid by all students participating in 6th grade soccer. Please see the district website on how to pay the activity fee. Coaches will not accept any activity fees!
As this is 6th grade soccer, sport’s physicals are not necessary. Students will receive a blue card on the first day of practice where you can write emergency information and contact information. There is no FAMILY ID signups for 6th grade soccer. As long as the activity fee is paid and you bring the blue emergency card, which will be given out, students can come to the first practice. Please get changed in the locker room and leave your things in the locker room while we play. Do not put on your cleats until you’re outside! We’ll meet outside the cafeteria at 2:30 pm each day. Let’s have fun! The schedule is below. Please listen to the announcements for any changes due to inclement weather!
Pick up at the end of practice is at the front of Fugett. You do not have to come to practice every day. If you cannot make it to a practice, we’ll see you at the next one!
6th Grade Soccer Intramurals 2024 Schedule All practices will run from 2:15pm – 4:00pm. Students must be picked up in front of Fugett by 4:00 pm every day. If you cannot be picked up on time do not come to practice that day!
