2024-25 Professional Learning Sessions
Amplify Cohort, Meeting 1
September 12, 2024
Kindergarten - 5th Grade
If your campus/district is utilizing Amplify as your elementary RLA curriculum, please join our Region 6 Amplify Cohort. Throughout the year, we will work to support teachers to strengthen their daily classroom instruction through lesson and unit internalization to ensure effective implementation while allowing for collaboration with teachers from various districts around our region.
This is the 1st of 5 sessions throughout the year. Please register for each session individually.
CIRCLE Pre-K Foundations Training
September 17th & 18th
Prekindergarten
The CIRCLE Pre-K Foundations Training provides a comprehensive look at
prekindergarten instruction to support kindergarten readiness. This 7-module training
was developed to target key areas of prekindergarten learning and instruction.
Across the 7 modules, teachers will experience multiple demonstration lessons and
will have numerous opportunities to practice lessons and activities which can be
immediately implemented in the classroom.
Patterns of Power

2nd Grade - 6th Grade
Instead of chanting grammar rules or completing countless convention worksheets, let’s get students exploring conventions as special effects devices that activate meaning. In this session, participants will look at ways to use authentic texts and recognize the essential grammar conventions that readers and writers require to make meaning. This session is appropriate for 2nd - 6th Grade classrooms.
All participants will receive a free copy of Patterns of Power.

Early Childhood Professional Learning Series #1 (Prekindergarten)
This is the first session of our Early Childhood Professional Learning Series for the 2024-25 school year. The series will consist of three sessions designed to support participants in providing high-quality Pre-Kindergarten instruction.
Session 1 of the series will focus on setting up your classroom for successful students. We will discuss effective classroom set-up, developing daily schedules, creating consistent classroom rules and procedures, and building classroom community.

This is the first session of our Elementary RLA Professional Learning Series for the 2024-25 school year. The series will consist of four sessions designed to support participants in providing high-quality RLA instruction.
Session 1 of the series will focus on setting up your classroom for successful students. We will discuss effective classroom set-up, developing daily schedules, creating consistent classroom rules and procedures, and building classroom community.
Introduction to STAAR Reading - Grades 3 - 6

This is the first of a 4-part learning series that is designed to support instruction to build STAAR Reading readiness for Grades 3rd-6th. This session will begin with information about STAAR Reading - focused on rigorous questioning and how to strengthen daily instruction for students.

Prekindergarten - 1st Grade
Join us for a session centered around Whitney La Rocca & Jeff Anderson's book Patters of Wonder: Inviting Emergent Writers to Play with the Conventions of Language. In this session we will take a look at how we encourage young, emergent writers to notice the conventions of language and begin to use them with an inquiry-based approach to instructional grammar. This session is appropriate for PK - 1st grade classrooms.

Please join us at Region 6 as we coach educators how to take their screener data to create a small group schedule and determine the focus of small group personalized instruction. Participants will bring their BOY screener data and will leave with a plan to meet the needs of their individual students.

Session 2 of our Professional Learning Series will focus on utilizing learning centers in the Pre-K
classroom. We will discuss the importance of literacy centers in early childhood, and how to plan
and implement learning centers in the classroom. We will also look at small group instruction and how to group students and plan for instruction.

This is the second of a 4-part learning series that is designed to support instruction to build STAAR Reading and Writing readiness for Grades 3rd-6th. This session will focus on information about STAAR writing and how to support and strengthen daily student instruction with SCR's and ECR's.
We will calibrate writing samples. Teachers will need to bring student writing samples to be scored.

Teachers will be immersed in a TEKS deep dive AND learn how to use their most current student data to drive intentional, personalized instruction for learners in Grades 3rd- 6th. Teachers will also create groupings AND plan for their small group instruction based on data!

This is the second session of our Elementary RLA Professional Learning Series for the 2024-25 school year. The series will consist of four sessions designed to support participants in providing high-quality RLA instruction.
Session 2 of our Professional Learning Series will focus on structuring the entire RLA block. We will discuss the individual components of the reading block, including foundational skills, language comprehension, writing, and learning stations as well as best instructional practices for each component and how to create purposeful small group experiences.

Join us for this professional learning session designed to equip educators with the knowledge, strategies, and resources necessary to foster literacy development in the primary grades. In this session we will anchor in the components of literacy and will discuss instructional approaches that will ensure that our primary students are ready to tackle the complex learning that happens in 3rd-5th grade.

This is the third of a 4-part learning series that is designed to support instruction to build STAAR Reading and Writing readiness for Grades 3rd-6th. This session will build on the Introduction to STAAR Writing session. We will continue to focus on information about STAAR writing, how to support and strengthen daily student instruction with SCR's and ECR's, and allow for time to build and plan for Writing small groups based upon student data.

This is the fourth session of our Elementary RLA Professional Learning Series for the 2024-25 school year. The series will consist of four sessions designed to support participants in providing high-quality RLA instruction.
Session 4 of our Professional Learning Series will focus on evidence-based instructional strategies that can be implemented immediately. We will explore a variety of instructional strategies to engage students in authentic learning and promote higher-order thinking skills.
STAAR Reading - Countdown to STAAR Grades 3 - 6

This is the fourth of a 4-part learning series that is designed to support instruction to build STAAR Reading and Writing readiness for Grades 3rd-6th. This session will focus on how to best prepare students for the RLA STAAR assessment. Teachers will leave with a plan for their countdown to STAAR.

Keys to Early Writing: Best Practices for K-2 Writing

Join us as learn evidence-based instructional practices for teaching foundational writing skills. This practical course provides the background knowledge needed to teach the components of beginning writing instruction. The instructional suggestions are developmentally appropriate for young children in kindergarten through grade 2, and easily transfer to classroom lessons that can be integrated with any writing curriculum or published writing program.
