Welcome To Week 37!
Dear Brahma Family,
During the final two weeks of the school year, we have much to celebrate. As I write this note, many members of the Class of 2024 are celebrating at Grad Nite at Disney’s California Adventure. Yearbooks will be distributed on Tuesday (Seniors only) and Wednesday (all students). On Thursday night, all School Awards Night will be held in our gym. Doors will open at 6:30 and the event will begin at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, The Senior Breakfast will be held at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel and the Seniors who attend will enjoy the rest of their day in the amusement park. And, of course, we will hold commencement exercises for the Class of 2024 on Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. in our stadium. You can find additional reminders and more information about these events in this edition of the Brahma Briefing.
Have a great week.

Service Learning in AP Environmental Science
Students from Diamond Bar High School's AP Environmental Science classes are completing their class service learning projects. This project called the "Your World" project was started by our Project Lead the Way (PLTW) teacher Mr. Hwang. It is also a project that we did for about 15 years in my AP Environmental Science classes. It can be one of the most meaningful learning experiences for students in the class and a highlight of the school year. One of the projects this year is "Beyond the Peel." Below is their description of their work.
"Beyond the Peel," is a unique initiative aimed at promoting the reduction of wasted food and making a positive impact on the community through a fruit drive, multiple school rallies, and the spreading of awareness through other methods.
To give back to the community and help those in need. Beyond the Peel has committed themselves to repaying the community. Not only just giving back, Beyond the Peel is also reducing food waste efficiently by making use of fruits grown in people's yards. By simply going around local neighborhoods, hundreds of pounds of fruits that would have otherwise been wasted, are becoming repurposed and used.
From April 29 to May 2, Beyond the Peel encouraged students, parents, and project members to come and donate fruit. From this project alone, nearly 200 pounds of lemons, grapefruit, oranges, and other fruits were donated. This recent donation highlights the community's commitment to supporting those in need and preventing food insecurity in places where access to it should be abundant.
These donations will be collected by a local food pantry, Uncommon Good, which will provide food supplies to those who need it the most.
Also save these dates!!
