FAC Weekly Update
May 26, 2023
Good Afternoon, FAC Family
We hope that you had a fantastic week! It sure has been a memorable one for us - with an amazingly fun Anti-Prom last Saturday, two great concerts on Monday and Tuesday, a beautiful Commencement ceremony on Wednesday...we feel so fortunate to close out the school year with some really special events.
Congratulations to our Seniors, and thank you all for your support throughout the school year. It is truly special to be a part of the FAC Family!
Here’s the latest from the halls of the FAC…
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
How to Have Job Security - part 2
6. Show you add value.
“The verb of your job is everything. All other things––your business card, stationery, title, telephone, desk, company car, and even your policies and procedures manual––are superfluous. The pertinent questions of a successful business are focused not on its nouns but on its verbs: ‘What are you producing?’, ‘Who are you serving?’, ‘How well do you do it?’” –William M. Boast, “Masters of Change”
7. Show you are irreplaceable.
» It’s not what a person does that makes his work sacred or secular, but why he does it. –A.W. Tozer
8. Show humility.
Humility Means:
- A capacity for self-criticism
- Allowing others to shine
“Gratitude is the greatest of all emotions.” –Zig Ziglar
10. Show excellence.
“The best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today.” –Elbert Hubbard
“If a man is to be called to be a street-sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street-sweeper who did his job well.’” –Martin Luther King, Jr.
Whatever you are doing, and in whatever conversation you find yourself engaged give it:
- Your whole heart
- Your undistracted attention
- Your maximum effort
- Dr. John C. Maxwell - The Maxwell Leadership Podcast
Video of FAC Commencement Ceremony
The Fine Arts Commencement Ceremony was filmed by the GCS Department of Communications and can be viewed at the following link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEnALo2tURc. Please note that due to an audio issue in the video recording, Adam Knight's speech did not make it to the final published version of the video. We apologize for this very unfortunate outcome.
Reminder - Student Information Form for 2023-2024
Each year, the Fine Arts Center asks parents to complete our Student Information Form so that we have the most up-to-date contact information on hand. Unlike other schools, we receive students from all 15 GCS high schools, plus a handful of students from Private/Charter/Homeschool/Virtual School. We therefore have both our new and returning families complete the form on an annual basis, and ask that you complete the form by Friday, June 2, 2023. Please note that if you have twins or siblings attending, you will need to complete a separate form for each child.
Link to the Student Information Form - https://forms.gle/6BZuuZfMv6r7GbFx7.
If your child will not be enrolled next year in a Greenville County High School, we require additional documentation to enroll them into the FAC. Parents of these students should please come by the Fine Arts Center Main Office between 8:00am and 4:00pm by Friday, June 2, 2023 to bring the following required documents:
- 2 Proofs of Residency (1 Lease or Mortgage Statement, 1 Utility bill)
- Birth Certificate
- SC Certificate of Immunization with requirements met for 7th-12th grade (or Religious Exemption)
- Court-issued documents, if applicable
- IEP or 504 paperwork if applicable.
- Parent's Driver’s License or other official I.D.
Our staff can make copies of these for you if necessary.
Please call our Main Office with any questions – (864) 355-2550.
