OCTOBER 2024
News from Mr. Culbreth
Warrior Family,
We have many exciting events coming up in the month of October. First and foremost, I want to invite you to our Fall Family Night on October 24th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. It will be a night to learn more about the resources we have available, how to help your child and fellowship with the rest of our community. You will find more information below and I look forward to seeing you there.
Due to the recent incidents in our state, there has been a heightened concern for safety within our schools. I want to reassure you that school safety is our number one priority above all else. I want to extend my gratitude to our Board of Education and the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office for their partnership that provides a School Resource Officer on every campus in Catoosa County. I want to give a shout out to our very own SRO, Deputy Gracie Freeman. She has been critical in investigating and ensuring that our campus is as safe as it possibly can be. I want to encourage all students, parents, and community members to say something if you see or hear something. It takes all of us to ensure our school is as safe as it can be.
There are a few other dates to remember as we go into October. Please remember there will be no school from October 14th-18th for Fall Break. The Communities in Schools Duck Derby is October 5th at Jack Mattox Complex in Ringgold. The NGAC Football Playoffs will begin October 15th.
As always, I want to encourage you to communicate with the school any time you have questions or concerns. We know that student success increases when there is a strong relationship between the school and the home. Please do not hesitate to email me at mculbreth@catoosa.k12.ga.us when you have questions and/or concern

Nurse Notes
Hello Warriors:
Hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful days we are having. We are starting to enter a new season- FALL; and with a new season comes an uptick in respiratory illnesses in the schools.
Our dental van visit was a HUGE success!!! We are grateful for this service that allows basic dental procedures to be performed here at LMS.
Just a few reminders from the clinic:
- CLINIC REFERRALS- students, please request that your teacher send in a referral if you need to be seen. You will be seen as quickly as possible.
- CALLED TO THE CLINIC- Parents and students: please know that lunch time is an extremely busy time in the clinic due to the # of medications that must be administered at specific times. While the nurse does not have a scheduled lunch time, I TRY to get a break in between scheduled appointments. After lunch ends, I begin seeing students based on the need (triage protocol) that has been submitted. While I try my best to see each student as quickly as possible, sometimes unforeseen accidents and emergencies happen in the midst of all of this. While I am not making excuses for why your child may not be seen in a timely manner, this is an explanation as to why it may happen. I deeply apologize for any delay in treatment to you (or your child).
- MEDICATIONS- meds are not allowed to be carried with students at school unless written instructions from MD for emergency health conditions. This includes Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Excedrin, cough drops, etc. These meds are stocked and dispensed in the clinic if your child has turned in his/her medication consent form.
- RESPONDING TO EMAILS/VOICEMAILS- because of the number of students seen in the clinic in a day, I typically do not have time to respond to calls and/or emails until the end of the day.
- CONTACT PHONE #s- please make sure the phone number we have at school is the most up-to-date. If you need to be contacted by the nurse for an illness or emergency, and the # on file is not working, incorrect, etc, this takes extra time to reach you.
Tips to stay healthy:
wash hands frequently, cover coughs and sneezes, get plenty of rest and water to drink, and stay home if sick.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Thanks,
Nurse Janice
