March is Youth Art Month! That means itβs ART SHOW SEASON!
The Chelmsford Public Library is now hosting the District Wide Art Show. This show will be up throughout the month of March. Ten South Row students have artwork on display!
March 17th is the opening day for the https://massarted.com/youth-art-month/βs Virtual Exhibit. There will be student artwork from all over the state of Massachusetts on view through April. Ten South Row students will have artwork displayed!
Youth Art Month 2025 - Massachusetts Art Education Association
The Statewide Youth Art Month exhibit is virtual again this year. Teachers of artists in grades preK-12 are invited to participate in this yearβs virtual Youth Art Month exhibit. MAEA members of students in grades 9-12 may also exhibit work in the Massachusetts Amazing Emerging Artists Recognitions exhibit, which is a juried exhibit for massarted.com. Here is the direct link to the virtual show.
Recurring Reminders:
- Smartphones and Smart Watches: We strongly discourage sending your child to school with smart phones or watches. If your child brings either of these devices to school the expectation is that they are turned off and in their backpack.
- Snacks: Please remember to send your child in with a snack. The school has a very limited supply that gets depleted quickly and it is not to every students liking.
PE Reminder: Please help your child to remember to bring sneakers when they have Phys Ed. Snow boots are great for recess, but unsafe for the gymnasium. Also on PE days, I would suggest students wear T-shirts or layers so they can take their long sleeve off when they get hot. Thank you!
IIQ Help Desk Tickets: Some families have been using an unmonitored email for support with accessing the Aspen Family Portal. Instead, please use the incident IQ request form located on the CPS website under the parent drop down menu. Dear South Row Families,
Happy Spring!
We had a sudden burst of GI illnesses but it seems to have resolved as quickly as it came on. Fingers crossed that it stays that way!
Please send me your updated physicals for your 3rd and 4th grader if you have not already done so.
Warmly,
Nurse V.

Book Fair Wrap Up
Thank you for an amazing 2025 Book Fair!
We have wrapped up our annual Scholastic Book Fair and are blown away by the excitement and participation amongst the students, staff, and families! Student shopping days were filled with smiling and happy faces, whether the students were purchasing books, βwindowβ shopping, or reading through the many Scholastic books that the fair had to offer during their library specialist time. Family Shopping and Game Night was equally successful, with enthusiastic BOOKO players in the cafeteria and eager shoppers filling the library!
A special thank you to everyone who made this weeklong event possible, including school administration, Ms Hamm, the custodians, and of course β our volunteers!
Online shopping is still available through March 27th at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/southrowelementaryschool.
See you at next yearβs fair!
Charity Drive Update
Additionally we wanted to report that we collected over $3,000 worth of hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash/soap) for Community Teamwork in Lowell this year during our Clean Sweep Stakes Challenge! Our items were delivered 3/18 to an appreciative and enthusiastic staff at Community Teamworks. They were truly blown clean off their feet with the generous donation! I included a few pictures below. We had a 100% participation rate, all classes participated, and nearly all collected 25 or more items and were entered in our drawing for 1 of 3 $200 gift certificates to the Scholastic Book Fair. The winners were: Mrs. Cassidy, Mrs. Stagnone, and Mrs. Kellermanβs classes. Congratulations and thank you to all who participated!
Planning for the 2025 Basket Raffle has already begun!
On Saturday, May 17th, South Row PTO will be hosting our 3rd Annual Sunshine Dance! Along with this fun event, we will be holding our 21st Annual Basket Raffle. Each class will have a themed basket to showcase during the dance. These are no ordinary baskets; they are GINORMOUS baskets and are a beloved South Row fundraising tradition!
In order to make this a smooth and successful fundraiser, we are looking for volunteers to coordinate donation collection for each classroom and to wrap baskets before the event. For more details and to sign up to volunteer, please sign up using the SignUp Genius linked HERE.
Baskets will be on display a few days before and during the Sunshine Dance! More information about the Sunshine Dance and raffle ticket sales will be shared in the coming weeks.
This is a fun event for the whole family and the baskets are a fantastic fundraiser for our amazing South Row School!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Ashley Cakounes or Michelle Fearon at southrowptobasketraffle@gmail.com.
