Team Curington: One Team, One Dream
Principal's Corner
Dear Curington Families,
This week was filled with celebrations, learning, and collaboration across our campus!
🎉 100th Day of School: We marked a major milestone with our 100th Day of School celebrations! It was wonderful to see students engaged in fun activities that highlighted just how much they’ve learned and grown this year.
💙 National School Counseling Week: We want to take a moment to recognize and thank our incredible counselor, Mrs. Torres, and our counseling secretary, Mrs. Barker. Their dedication to supporting our students' academic and emotional well-being is truly invaluable. If you see them, be sure to share your appreciation!
➗ Math Professional Learning: This week, our teachers had the opportunity to participate in high-quality math professional learning. We are excited to see these new strategies come to life in our classrooms, enriching our students' mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills.
🤝 Collaborative Learning with Van Raub Elementary: We were honored to host a group from Van Raub Elementary for collaborative learning walks and planning. It’s always inspiring to learn from one another and grow together as educators.
🏫 Attendance Reminder: We have seen a significant impact on attendance due to illness. Please remember that students should not be sent to school if they have a fever and must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning. Keeping our school community healthy is a team effort—thank you for your cooperation!
Thank you for your continued support in making Curington such a special place for learning and growth. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
Michael Joannou

Good Things at CES
100 days of learning, growing, and having fun! We’re so proud of all the hard work, creativity, and teamwork we've seen so far. From exciting lessons to unforgettable memories, it's been an amazing journey! Here’s to 100 more days of laughter, learning, and making even more memories together.
Our PreK class had an exciting adventure today! They made their very first visit to the library, and it was a day full of stories, exploration, and fun! The kids were so excited to pick out books and learn all about the magic of the library. We can’t wait for more trips like this!

Attendance Matters
This week has seen some struggles with school attendance. A number of students have been hit with illness. Please continue to encourage good practices like hand washing to help keep the bugs away. Our campus attendance goal is 96%, this week our school attendance was 92.06%.
- Kindegarten - 92.11%
- 1st Grade - 94.62%
- 2nd Grade - 87.76%
- 3rd Grade - 93.18%
- 4th Grade - 91.84%
- 5th Grade - 90.83%
Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance.
- Excused or unexcused absences represent lost time in the classroom and lost opportunities to learn.
- Official attendance times are 10am for Elementary and 10:30am for Secondary.
- Appointments should be scheduled at the start or end of the school day to be counted as D=Doctor Appointment Same Day and not as an absence. Students must be present a portion of the day for a D absence code.
- If the student is out the entire day, they are absent.
- Every student's situation is different. If there are barriers keeping your student from being at school, please reach out to us.
