Memory Walk for the Alzheimer's Society
Well done to the Anglo Family Team who took part in the Chelmsford Memory Walk at Hylands Park last weekend. The weather was kind and 44 members of staff walked and raised money for our national school charity last weekend. It's not too late to make a donation, please use this link to the donations page: https://ow.ly/opWT50TryM5 and include the reference Alzheimers Walk.
Thank you to everyone who donated and supported such a worthy cause! Well done team!
Hello Yellow - Rescheduled
This week our assembly focus was on Hello Yellow for World Mental Health Day. This day is being recognised by thousands of schools and companies across the UK in support of all those whose lives are affected by mental health. A video was shared with students about what factors in society affect their mental health. Students were also directed to key colleagues within school who are mental health first aiders and were also introduced to our Sixth Formers who are Talk2nish Peer Mentors.
Unfortunately, our plans to support this day were disrupted due to our recent maintenance issue but we are passionate about mental health and we would like to recreate this day within our school community, so are rescheduling this for Wednesday 16th October. We invite students to wear a yellow accessory to their uniform and we encourage Sixth Formers to join staff in wearing something yellow on that day. Please note that this is not a non-uniform day, just an opportunity to add something yellow to your school uniform. We will also be creating our Wall of Positivity where students will be invited to share a positive message to support our mental health support in school.
MacMillan Coffee Morning
Mr Taggart, Headteacher of Ingatestone & Fryerning Church of England Junior School, praised Anglo students who gave up their time on a recent training day to support the MacMillan coffee morning held at the Junior School. Mr Taggart said "It was lovely to see lots of past pupils helping at our MacMillan coffee morning on their day off." Well done!
Year 7 Students Enjoy an Exciting Visit from the Police School Liaison Officer
Our Police School Liaison Officer, PC Burgess, visited the school today giving Year 7 students the opportunity to explore a real police car, sound the sirens, ask questions about law enforcement and learn about the tools officers rely on to keep us safe. This hands-on experience was a fantastic way for students to engage with the important role that police officers play in our community and reinforced the importance of safety and responsibility.
Extra-Curricular
Brentwood Imperial Youth Band
Two of our young musicians, Adam and Naeema were invited, as part of the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band, to participate in the recent funeral of Mr Don Sheppard, a distinguished D Day Veteran who died aged 104. This was a moving tribute to the dispatch rider for the Royal Engineers, who landed on a ship tank on Normandy's Juno beach on 6th June 1944. He also helped to liberate the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. They were given the honour of playing "The Last Post" and "Reveille" to over 250 mourners. The music selection was deeply meaningful, with the trumpeters concluding the service by playing “The Last Post” and “Reveille,” offering a solemn and respectful tribute to the ceremony.
Don't forget to check out our extra-curricular clubs. There are lots of opportunities to engage in different activities such as Anglo Music School including choir, orchestra and ensembles, Coding, Debating Society, Drama, Proud, Moles, Spanish Scabble as well as physical activities including trampolining, badminton, table tennis, netball, football and basketball to name but a few. GET INVOLVED!
