Attention Parents/Guardians of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors! This week we started sharing information with students regarding class scheduling for the 2025-2026 school year. Below is all of the information covering the scheduling process so that you as parents and guardians can work with your students as they make decisions about classes and various programs for next year. The document linked below was sent to all students on Wednesday, January 29th and students also watched the Scheduling Information Video with GHS Counselors Part 1 during our Warrior Up advisory bell. This information has the timeline for scheduling, links to all the important documents and resources to help students make choices about their classes, information about various GHS programs, reminders about graduation requirements and links to the Scheduling Information videos created by the GHS School Counselors. Please take a moment to look over the information below and discuss this with your student prior to our first day of scheduling which is Monday, February 10th! If you or your student have any questions, please contact the GHS School Counselors (Mrs. Royal, last names A-K, royalk@goshenlocalschools.org and Mrs. Mantz, last names L-Z, mantzk@goshenlocalschools.org).

CCP Information Night: Goshen High School families are invited to learn about Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program during an informational session with the University of Cincinnati on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Goshen High School. CCP allows students in grades 7-12 to earn dual high school and college credits by taking courses at no or limited cost. Eligible students must meet academic requirements, apply to participating colleges, and align coursework with graduation requirements. The program enhances career readiness and postsecondary success while saving families on tuition costs. Parents and students can ask questions and learn about key steps, benefits, and deadlines, including submitting an Intent to Participate Form by April 1, 2025. Contact the CCR and Guidance Departments for more information.
“Where To Wednesday” Newsletter:

Make sure that you are checking out the newsletter each week to find out important information coming out within the College and Career Readiness Department and throughout the high school! SENIOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Financial Aid Information:
During our Warrior Up advisory bell on Wednesday, November 20th, seniors watched a presentation from our GHS guidance department to learn about financial aid. The presentation included an introduction to the FAFSA, the various types of financial aid, and information on how to access a large variety of scholarship opportunities. Students were also shown how to use SchooLinks, our College and Career Readiness program, to help manage this sometimes challenging process of finding ways to finance their after high school plans including college, career schools or training programs. The slideshow below was presented to students to help them begin understanding this important process. Please review the information in this slideshow with your senior student and reach out to Mrs. Mantz or Mrs. Royal, our GHS counselors, with any questions!
SENIORS: College Application Reminders:
Mrs. Mantz and Mrs. Royal wanted to send out a reminder about college applications as we have some quickly approaching deadlines. Although a large number of college applications are due by December 1st, there are some colleges, including The Ohio State, that have early action deadlines of November 1st. This means that if you are planning on applying to college and haven't started the process yet, it is definitely time to start NOW!
Below is the Applying to College 101 document that we have gone over with you all and sent out a few times. We have made some edits to the document and added in some additional helpful information and details including more links to video clips on using SchooLinks. We also added some information about financial aid, which we will cover in more detail in an upcoming Warrior Up bell. From our experience and through working with many of you so far this year, this program seems very user friendly and we feel strongly that using this program will be an easy part of your college application process!
Applying to College 101 - Steps and Information!
As always, please reach out to Mrs. Royal or Mrs. Mantz if you have any questions at all!
Our scholarship document for all interested Goshen seniors applying to college is up to date as of February 1 for all local and regional scholarships. Seniors and parents, please click on the scholarship document link and pay attention to the tabs at the bottom. There is a tab for all the Goshen LOCAL scholarships that we present at our Senior Scholarship Night on May 13 (6:30 pm). These are scholarships that only Goshen seniors are eligible for, therefore the applicant pool is much smaller which increases students' chances for being awarded the scholarship.
There is also a REGIONAL tab for scholarships our seniors can apply for and compete against other students in the county or greater Cincinnati area. We have students who do get awarded these sometimes, so worth a look for sure! Finally, there is a NATIONAL tab for students to be able to explore many additional scholarship opportunities that are out there.
We will continue to add local and regional scholarships that we receive throughout the year, and will highlight the newest additions yellow so they are easily identified. The Scholarship link is also available on the Goshen High School website under "Academics" and then "Scholarship Information". Please check this document weekly to state up to date on new scholarship opportunities! If you have any questions, please stop by the guidance office or email your school counselor.

Cell Phones: House Bill 250, which was signed into law by Governor DeWine, limits the use of cell phones and other wireless devices in our schools. Goshen Local Schools agrees with the research behind HB250 and with limiting the distractions that cell phone use creates for our students. With that in mind, below are the proposed changes to our cell phone practices and student handbook policies for the 2024-2025 school year, pending Board approval. Students are permitted to have cell phones on campus. Students are not permitted to use phones during class time or to take phones to the restroom. The expectation is for cell phones and wireless earbuds/headphones/AirPods to be put away and silenced in the classroom unless documented in IEP/504 or for documented health concerns. Students may access their devices before school, during lunch, and after school. To ensure compliance with these guidelines, the following consequences will be enforced:
Consequence for violating cellphone guidelines
1st offense (Classroom) - warning provided and parent contacted by teacher
2nd offense (Strike 1 in Office) - phone sent to office, parent contacted, and student can pick up phone from office at the end of the day
3rd offense (Strike 2 in Office) - phone sent to office, device must be picked up by the parent/guardian, and conversation is had about the repercussions if a student earns Strike 3.
4th offense (Strike 3 in Office) - phone sent to office, device must be picked up by the parent/guardian, and the device is not permitted to return to the school building for a designated amount of time up to and including the rest of the school year.
Chronic abuse of cell phone privileges will result in appropriate disciplinary measures up to and including suspension from school.
