BOARD HOSTING OPEN Q&A MEETING 10-2
PLEASE COME!
WHEN: Sunday, October 2 at 11:45am
WHERE: Souers Community Hall
WHY: Question and Answer Meeting
HOSTS: Board of Directors and Ministry Team Leaders
Do you ever wonder what is happening behind the scenes at The Church at Litchfield Park? If so, we encourage to come to this informal meeting. It’s a great opportunity for you to learn how CLP may be impacted with the continued development in Litchfield Square, how Property/Management is maintaining His church, what Community and Fellowship is planning and anything else inquiring minds want to know. We understand that not everyone is comfortable asking questions in front of others so please look for the “Question Box” that will be placed on the table as you come in the door. Thanks!
Also, the “Question Box” will be placed in the Narthex in the Sanctuary and in Souers Community Hall for you to drop off questions after each service on Sundays. Answers to these questions will be posted in the announcements and E-News.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS UPDATE
Zoning Variance Application: Great news! Our zoning variance application for a zero-lot line on the west and south sides of our church property has finally been approved by the City of Litchfield Park.
Master Plan Committee: Now that we have the zero-lot line variance approved we can proceed with discussions with architect Jeff Flemming of ADM Group, Inc. As you may recall, the first phase of the Master Plan is to expand Zieske Hall.
Capital Campaign Committee (CCC): Once we have the completed rendered drawings from the architect the committee may move forward with the printed materials (brochures, slide presentations, etc.) with a focus on the first phase of development. This will enable the CCC to keep you all informed and continue fund raising plans.
City Square Entertainment District Agreement: The City of Litchfield Park has approached the church asking us to be a member of the Entertainment District. Why? Litchfield Park is developing Litchfield Square and having CLP as a part of the Entertainment District will give the city freedom to place establishments serving alcohol closer than within 300 feet of our church building. For perspective Red’s, The Wigwam, and Papa Paul’s are just over 300 feet from the church. Note that CLP is zoned differently (PF-Public Facility) than Litchfield Square and the church will not be subject to their CC&Rs. Ken Martin, Pastor Lynne and I have met with the city on a number of occasions and have reported on these meetings to the Board of Directors. There will be a Q&A meeting for the congregation on October 2 after the 10:45am service in Souers Community Hall.
Property and Maintenance: The Arizona sun and weather has not been kind to the Sanctuary, Bell Tower, and Zieske Hall wooden doors. They are in need of refurbishment and the Board has approved up to $15,000 for this project. Joe Bemis and Greg Clement are working to obtain bids from three different contractors. This summer new air conditioners were installed - one in Souers Community Hall and another in classroom 6.
Safety Team: This committee continues to work to provide a safe environment for all without compromising the culture of His church. Jim Anderson is obtaining three bids to reduce the number of keys needed on campus and David Drake has placed first aid kits in every room.
Budget Planning for 2023: Your Board of Directors has started the process of planning the operating budget for 2023. Please be in prayer as you determine your pledge amount for 2023. Ten percent of all pledges goes directly to the mission budget to help the many benevolences we support.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS TO ATTEND
THE ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING AT 11:45AM
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20, IN SOUERS COMMUNITY HALL.

President, Board of Directors

CAN YOU PRUNE OUR ROSE GARDENS?
Volunteers are needed to help maintain CLP's beautiful rose gardens. Roses need to be pruned in fall and early spring. During the blooming period, spring to autumn, the bushes need to be “dead-headed.” Deadheading is removing spent blooms from the bush. Doing such allows the bush to continue blooming. Otherwise, the rose will go to seed and much blooming will cease. There will be training of techniques for pruning and deadheading provided. Men and Women are invited to join in this rewarding endeavor. Highschool students are also welcome. For details contact the church office or signup online: https://clp.breezechms.com/form/roses.
BE A CLP KIDS LEADER!
If you have a passion for seeing children know Jesus, we have opportunities for preschool age and 3rd-5th grade teachers. Children's Ministries leader Brenda Houlihan provides curriculum, training, and support. Sign up today and make a difference at: https://clp.breezechms.com/form/clpkids!
MUSICIANS AND VOCALISTS
Do you play the drums, guitar, bass guitar or sing? We would love to grow our 10:45am worship team. Rehearsals are currently on Monday night and prior to the 10:45am worship service in Souers Community Hall. If you are interested in learning more contact Pablo at pquijas@clp.church.
STEP UP AND BE AN USHER
We are always looking for ushers for Sunday services. We encourage you to usher as a family with your kids helping too! If you’re interested in serving, see Rob Gimbl or click on the following link https://clp.breezechms.com/form/usher.
HANDBELL CHOIR
There is great joy in being a member of our church's handbell choir ministry. We receive far more than we give. Yes, there is work to learn the pieces, but everyone helps everyone else. Please think seriously about joining our ringers in creating moments of Christian fellowship, ministering to the congregation and experiencing the joy of making music for Him. Call the church office (623-935-3411) to indicate your interest and Marilyn, our Bell Master, will call you with an invitation to join her for a lesson.
CLP KIDS (Sunday School)
Children entering Pre-K through grade five are invited to attend CLP KIDS Sunday, September 18, during the 9:15am worship service. CLP KIDS starts for all ages in classroom 6 near the nursery. We do need volunteers to help lead CL KIDS. Helping once a month for 45 minutes or even every other month would give our leaders a much-needed break!
NURSERY IS PROVIDED FOR CHILDREN FROM BIRTH THROUGH AGE 3
