What's Up Next?
Welcome Back Parents!
We have had an exciting start to this school year and looking forward to more great days ahead! Please take the time to read through the parent packets that were sent home with students the first day of school and return required documents to your child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible. We also encourage you to make sure the school is updated when your contact information may change. We look forward to a continued partnership with our parents throughout the school year.
DCS is focused on making sure that all of our students achieve high academic success. We are committed to working with you (parents & families) on making sure that happens this year. So, let's work together this year "Going Beyond the Gold" and get "Ready to Build Our Outstanding Minds" at Hillcrest Elementary School! We believe that early and ongoing engagement by family and community is critical to the success of every child, and we want you to be committed in partnering with us in helping your child be successful. I'm looking forward to serving you and your child this year.
Friendly Reminders:
- Please arrive before 8:00 a.m. to ensure that your child has time to eat breakfast before classes begin. Breakfast is served to all students daily from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. with a student choice of hot or cold.
- School starts at 8:00 a.m. Your child will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:00 a.m.
- School Dismissal begins at 2:55 p.m.
- Make right turns ONLY when exiting the car rider drop-off/pick-up line. Please allow our staff to enter the parking lot in the mornings by keeping the car rider lane open at the entrance near the playground.
- Car Rider Parents: To help ensure the safety of loading and unloading our precious cargo (students), please place your car in the Park position while students are entering/exiting the vehicle.
Parents, we also would like you to be aware that the most consistent method of school-wide communication that will be utilize at HES will be the weekly grade level newsletters distributed each Monday by your child's homeroom teacher. Additionally, please rest assured that we will always notify you of important school-wide events with memos and flyers that will be included with your child's signed papers, weekly newsletters, etc.
Thank you again for your support and allowing us an opportunity to serve your child! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our school at (478) 353-8200. I look forward to another awesome year ahead with each of you!
Habit #1 - Be Proactive {Week of August 5th}
Habit of the Week: Habit #1 - Be Proactive
Let's have a can do attitude! Encourage your child to try their best at all times. They can do this by being good listeners and following directions, as well as doing the right thing without being asked, even when nobody is looking. We are in control of choosing our actions, attitudes, and moods. Therefore, we shouldn't blame others for our wrongdoing. Let's encourage our students to be more proactive so that they have better results in life.
Habit #1 Focus: I'm in charge of me!
Check out our student leaders! They are "Ready to BOOM!"
We are Building Our Outstanding Minds this year as we works towards high achievement and success for all students!
