Hello Juntos community!
We are excited to announce the upcoming Hopkins Juntos Immersion Advisory Group! This group is designed for us to come together as a community, share our voices, and collaborate on the best ways to support our Spanish Immersion program at Hopkins.
Please, take a look at this survey and complete it as you can so we can design the advisory group. Please note that this will also happen for our XinXing Chinese Immersion Program to ensure equity across our district.

Kindergarten Juntos

¡Hola familias!
Last week was quite short, as we only had two days of school. During those days, we worked on addition in math and continued recognizing and writing the letter R in literacy. We also practiced independent reading and enjoyed a yoga session. The other three days were dedicated to conferences, where we had the opportunity to discuss our children's work and progress at school.
This week, we celebrated Blair's birthday, and we are learning about friendship and how to be good friends because we do not want to have conditional friendships. In math, we continue working with addition, but now they are solving simple situations that require this kind of operation. In literacy, we have been working on the sound /k/, which includes the syllables Ca, Que, Qui, Co, Cu, and Ka, Ke, Ki, Ko, Ku... and of course, we are enjoying the weather.

La semana pasada fue bastante corta, ya que solo tuvimos dos días de clase. Durante esos días, trabajamos en adiciones en matemáticas y continuamos reconociendo y escribiendo la letra R en lectura. También practicamos la lectura independiente y disfrutamos de una sesión de yoga. Los otros tres días fueron dedicados a las conferencias, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de discutir el trabajo y el progreso de nuestros niños en la escuela.
Esta semana, celebramos el cumpleaños de Blair y estamos aprendiendo sobre la amistad y cómo ser buenos amigos, porque no queremos tener amistades condicionadas. En matemáticas, seguimos trabajando con adiciones, pero ahora están resolviendo situaciones simples que requieren este tipo de operación. En lectura, hemos estado trabajando en el sonido /k/, que incluye las sílabas Ca, que, qui, Co, Cu, y Ka, ke, ki, ko, ku... y por supuesto, estamos disfrutando del clima.

Dear Kindergarten Families,
This week was full of excitement as we celebrated our 100th day of school! To kick off our celebration, students dressed up as if they were 100 years old; iit was amazing to see the creativity each of you put into this!
As part of our 100th-day celebration, we joined Ms. Wu’s class for some special activities, including singing songs and reading a book together. Our kindergarteners loved celebrating and building community with their peers.
Throughout the week, students participated in a different activity each day related to this big milestone. From counting to 100 in creative ways to fun hands-on projects, it was a joy to see their enthusiasm and engagement!

¡Esta semana estuvo llena de emoción ya que celebramos nuestro día número 100 de clases! Para iniciar nuestra celebración, los estudiantes se disfrazaron como si tuvieran 100 años; ¡Fue increíble ver la creatividad que cada uno de ustedes puso en esto!
Como parte de la celebración de nuestro centenario, nos unimos a la clase de Ms. Wu para algunas actividades especiales, como cantar canciones y leer un libro juntos. A nuestros niños les encantó celebrar y construir comunidad con sus compañeros.
A lo largo de la semana, los estudiantes participaron en una actividad diferente cada día relacionada con este gran logro. Desde contar hasta 100 de manera creativa hasta proyectos prácticos y divertidos, ¡fue un placer ver su entusiasmo y compromiso!

1st Grade Juntos
Hello families!
It was great to see you all at conferences. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
This week in literacy we finished learning the syllables ñ and k. We formed words with these syllables and practiced them in our spelling test. Next week we will learn the syllables “x” and “w”. The syllable x is an interesting syllable that attains four sounds (ks, s, j, and sh) . I will include a helpful video that explains this, and we will also learn about this next week in class. Please make sure to practice for the spelling test as it will be a bit more difficult this week.
In math we reviewed place value again, and also began talking about more than, less than, and equal.
In social studies we have been learning and celebrating women's history month. Ask your child about what phenomenal woman they learned about this week!

We will be going to the Science Museum on April 11th. Thank you to everyone that was willing to volunteer! I will do a volunteer drawing this weekend and let those parents know.
Homework this weekend: practice spelling words, math worksheet, and practice fluency sheets from conferences.

Fue un placer verlos a todos en las conferencias. Si tienen alguna otra pregunta, no duden en contactarme.
Esta semana, en literatura, terminamos de aprender las sílabas ñ y k. Formamos palabras con estas sílabas y las practicamos en nuestro examen de ortografía. La próxima semana aprenderemos las sílabas "x" y "w". La sílaba x es una sílaba interesante que tiene cuatro sonidos (ks, s, j y sh). Incluiré un video útil que lo explica, y también aprenderemos sobre esto la próxima semana en clase. Por favor, asegúrense de practicar para el examen de ortografía, ya que será un poco más difícil esta semana.
En matemáticas, repasamos el valor posicional de nuevo y también comenzamos a hablar sobre "más que", "menor que" y "igual".
En estudios sociales, hemos estado aprendiendo y celebrando el mes de la historia de la mujer. ¡Pregúntenle a su hijo/a sobre qué mujer fenomenal aprendió esta semana!

Dear Families,
This week in literacy, we are focusing on the letter H. We are practicing words that start with H. In math, our students are exploring various shapes and learning how to identify the number of sides they have. In science, we will soon begin our Animal Adventures Unit, where students will discover different animal habitats. In SEL, we continue our work on cooperation. Lastly, the Imagination Fair is just around the corner, and a Book Fair will take place on the same evening.

Esta semana, en fonética, nos estamos enfocando en la letra H. Estamos practicando palabras que comienzan con H. En matemáticas, los estudiantes están explorando diferentes formas y aprendiendo a identificar cuántos lados tienen. En ciencias, pronto comenzaremos la unidad de Aventuras de Animales, en la que los estudiantes descubrirán diferentes hábitats de animales. En SEL, continuamos trabajando en la cooperación. Por último, la Feria de la Imaginación está por llegar, y se llevará a cabo una Feria del Libro en la misma noche.

Hello, families! 👋
This week, we learned about antonyms in Spanish 📝, explored how division is related to multiplication and missing factors in math ➗✖️, and returned to regular English classes with Ms. Susan after English learners completed their testing 📖.
We had some exciting celebrations and events! 🎉 We marked 100 days of third grade, and on Tuesday, we took a field trip to Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen, where we packed meals and learned about the needs of different communities around the world 🌍🍚 Thanks to all the parents and guardians that joined us. On Thursday, students performed "Flakes", a musical directed by Mr. Huwe, for families at 12:30 PM in the school media center 🎶❄️. On Friday we have a visit to learn about oral health care. 🦷🪥

¡Tuvimos celebraciones y eventos emocionantes! 🎉 Celebramos 100 días en tercer grado y el martes fuimos de excursión a Feed My Starving Children en Chanhassen, donde empacamos comidas y aprendimos sobre las necesidades de diferentes comunidades en el mundo 🌍🍚Gracias a los padres y madres que nos acompañaron. El jueves, los estudiantes presentaron "Flakes", un musical dirigido por Mr. Huwe, para las familias en el centro de medios de la escuela a las 12:30 PM 🎶❄️.
