Principal Notes
Boozhoo Warrior Families,
It is hard to believe that next week Thursday, June 6 is the last day of school for the 2023-2024 school year. A reminder that this is an early release day. Buses will depart school at 12:25 pm. Summer school starts on Monday, June 17 for those students that have registered.
Our annual Honors pow wow is on Tuesday, June 4 at 1:15 pm in the big gym. We will be honoring and celebrating all of our LdF community graduates. Also, our 8th grade promotion ceremony is on Wednesday, June 5 at 6:00 pm in our multi-purpose new cafeteria. We are going to greatly miss this class of students and wish them the best as they start the next chapter in their educational journey.
On behalf of our staff I would like to wish everyone a great summer. We hope everyone will be able to enjoy quality family time and enjoy everything that life in the Northwoods has to offer. We also hope to see everyone at the 4th of July parade in LdF!
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Every day is a great day to be a Warrior!
Respectfully,
Principal Fieck

Helping Your Child Receive the Full Benefit of Their Education-Facts from the Attendance Office
An absence is any time your child misses any portion of the school day after the start of school (8:10 AM) and before the scheduled end of school (3:25 PM).
Absences are further broken down as excused and unexcused.
All excused absences require communication with school. Any absence lacking communication remains unexcused until such time as information is provided to the school. For an absence to be excused, we need communication from you (email, phone call, written note). It is never too late to communicate for a past absence. Remember, good attendance is more than simply complying with laws; rather, it is truly a matter of providing our children with more and better opportunities to learn!

7 Grandfather Teachings
The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Native American way of life are built around the seven natural laws, or sacred teachings. Each teaching honors one of the basic virtues intrinsic to a full and healthy life.
Each law is embodied by an animal to underscore the point that all actions and decisions made by man are manifest on a physical plain. The animal world taught man how to live close to the earth, and the connection that has been established between the animal world and that of man has instilled a respect for all life in those who follow the traditional way.
- The Eagle teaches us LOVE. Love must be unconditional.
- The Buffalo teaches us RESPECT. Respect is the condition of being honored.
- The Bear teaches us COURAGE. Courage is the ability to face danger, fear, or changes with confidence and bravery.
- The Butterfly teaches us HONESTY.
- The Beaver teaches us WISDOM. Wisdom is the ability to make decisions based on personal knowledge and experience.
- The Wolf teaches us HUMILITY. Humility is being humble and not arrogant.
- The Turtle teaches us TRUTH. Truth is to know and understand all the seven teachings have given to us by the Creator and to remain faithful to them.
HONORS POW WOW/CELEBRATING TRUTH - JUNE 4TH, 2024
The Turtle teaches us TRUTH.
Truth is to know and understand all the seven teachings that have been given to us by the Creator and to remain faithful to them.
Knowing and Understanding all the Original laws as given by the Creator and staying true to them, is to know TRUTH. It is said that in the beginning, when the Creator made man and gave him the seven sacred laws, the Grandmother Turtle was present to ensure that the laws would never be lost or forgotten. On the back of a turtle there are the 13 moons, each representing the truth of one cycle of the Earth’s rotation around the sun. The 28 markings on her back represent the cycle of the moon.
Pow wow begins at 1:15-ends at approx. 2:30-LDF SCHOOL BIG GYM.
