Slaybaugh School Complex
Week of November 15, 2020
Principal's Message
Dear Slaybaugh Families,
This week is American Education Week. Traditionally we celebrate this week just prior to Thanksgiving. During American Education Week we present everyone with an opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every student receives a quality education.
According to experts, it is important for parents to take an active role in their children's education on a daily basis for optimal success at school. Research shows that parent involvement in schools improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism, and restores confidence.
We are all team in the children's education now more than ever. We thank you for all of your help and support.
Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli

First Grade Celebrates American Education Week
For American Education Week Mrs. Stuhltrager had the parents of the students in her class read to the class. Allie's mom Tara read “The Kissing Hand”. We also had Casey Huayta read "Turkey Troubles" and Jenna Kyle read "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late"
Third Grade Students Rock the Vote!
On November 3rd, Mrs. Efstatos' class participated in an election for a class mascot. The class was divided into two campaign teams who worked together in Google Breakout Rooms to create their candidate's campaign slogan and speech. Both teams were on a mission to persuade other students to vote for either Peter Porker or Theodore Toad. Although both candidates were worthy of this important position, students voted in a secret ballot election, both virtually and in-person. Congratulations to the new class mascot, PETER PORKER!

Shaving Cream Letters!
The kids in Mrs. Schwegman's class practiced their letters using shaving cream. It was good, clean fun! And they had clean desks and hands afterwards...bonus!

If you pick up an ornament, please keep that ornament and attach it to the wrapped gift when returning for identification purposes. The deadline for gift return is December 16th. We thank everyone for their generosity in helping families in need. If you have any questions please contact Kasey Simone at Simoneka@eht.k12.nj.us or at extension 1222.
