MUSTANG WEEKLY NEWSLETTER #12
November 1, 2024
WEEKLY MESSAGE
Hello John Jay High School Community,
What a fantastic week we had, celebrating Red Ribbon Week, Halloween, and our Mustang Round-Up! A huge thank you to our wonderful counselors for leading us in the Red Ribbon festivities and helping students embrace the message of living a healthy, drug-free life. It was inspiring to see so many students participate and show their spirit.
Mustang Round-Up was also a huge hit! There’s nothing like enjoying the outdoors at lunch, supporting our clubs and organizations, and treating ourselves to delicious food and treats. Seeing students, teachers, staff, and administrators come together to enjoy the event made it such a memorable time.
We also want to recognize the incredible efforts everyone has made this year in showing up and being present! Our attendance is at 92.9% so far, which is a 3.42% increase from last year’s 89.5%! Thank you to each of you for making attendance a priority, being in class, and putting your best foot forward every day. We believe in you, and we’re so proud of the dedication you’re showing. Keep up the great work!
Looking ahead, our counselors will be meeting with all sophomores this week for individual planning sessions. It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time to start preparing for next year and beyond! These sessions are key for keeping our students on track with their goals and exploring the paths ahead.
A reminder that students will not have school on Tuesday in observance of Election Day. For those who are of age, we encourage you to exercise your civic right and vote!
Finally, we’re excited to announce that next year we’ll be welcoming our inaugural 9th-grade class of John Jay Early College High School on the Jay/Jay SEA campus! This new program is open to current 8th graders who will be entering 9th grade in the 2025-2026 school year. Be sure to check out the John Jay Early College High School section for details.
Thank you all for your continued support and spirit. We believe in you, and we love seeing the energy and commitment each of you brings. Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
