APRIL 2025 EDITION
Dear Sewanee Elementary Students and Families,
Spring Into Career Exploration!
Happy April! With the arrival of spring, we're embracing growth, new beginnings, and fresh opportunities. This month, we'll be focusing on career exploration, helping students discover their interests and talents while learning about different jobs and how they connect to their futures.
What We're Learning This Month:
Kindergarten & Grade 1:
We'll explore different community helpers and talk about what students want to be when they grow up. Through stories and activities, students will start thinking about their skills and interests.
2nd Grade:
Students will discuss how their favorite hobbies and strengths can connect to different careers. We'll also introduce the idea that all jobs help our community in different ways.
Grades 3 - 5:
Older students will dive deeper into career exploration by learning about different career clusters, the importance of education, and the skills needed for various jobs. We'll also discuss setting goals and dreaming big for the future!
Spring Forward with Career Conversations:
You can support career exploration at home by:
~Talking about your own job and what you enjoy about it.
~Encouraging curiosity about different careers through books, videos, and visits to workplaces.
~Helping your child identify their strengths and how they might use them in the future.
Spring is a season of growth - what better time to plant the seeds of curiosity and career discovery!
Last month, we focused on test preparation for our 3rd through 5th graders, friendship for our 2nd graders, and feelings and self-esteem for our kindergarten and 1st grade students.
I'm looking forward to an exciting month of learning and exploring the possibilities! If you'd like additional resources or assistance to meet your student's needs, feel free to reach out! I'm here to support our students and families.
Wishing you an awesome April!
Sincerely,
Kim Hasty, M.S.
