Dear Deer Hill Families,

Surprise! There just seems to be so much happening at Deer Hill, that a newsletter every two weeks wasn't working as well as it has in the past. So I'm going to follow suit with Osgood and try a weekly format. If for some reason it's been a slow week, I'll email you on that Friday to let you know that we'll publish the following week. There's a balance between not overfilling your inbox and making sure you have access to time sensitive need to knows. With this increased frequency, the newsletters will likely be briefer but hopefully just as helpful.

Fall Benchmark Assessments: A reminder that fall DIBELS and iReady assessments were published in Aspen. Additionally, spring 2024 MCAS scores are now also published in Aspen for 4th and 5th grade students. Below are some screenshots to help you locate these results. Classroom teachers look forward to meeting with you during conferences to answer any questions and set goals for your child. Benchmark assessments and state testing are just one piece of the overall picture that we develop for your child as a learner.

Upcoming Spirit Days: We have three Spirit Days planned for October. Help your child shop their closet and join in the fun!

Thursday, October 31: Crazy Hat & Sock Spirit Day
Friday, November 1: Pajama Day (because we're just hazarding a guess that we may have some tired kiddos that day!)

New Beechwood Playground: The Town of Cohasset is excited to invite the community to the Beechwood Playground Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, October 23, at 4:00 PM. This event marks the official opening of the newly revitalized playground, a space designed to provide endless fun and recreation for children and families in our community. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating this important milestone. Following the ribbon cutting, there will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on the renovated court. This is an excellent opportunity for friendly competition and fun for all girls and boys who want to participate. This is for 3rd grade and up. Deer Hill Happenings

Unity Day: Today we "Put the 'i' in Community" and wore orange to show support for National Bullying Prevention Center's Unity Day Students jotted ideas for how they could contribute to an inclusive community and posted them on our mural. Even Hugo joined in!
