The SWIS SCOOP

Dear SWIS Families,
Thank you for a great year! This is always a time when we look back and celebrate milestones of all kinds, and there were many. I would like to first thank all of our students, families, and staff. Together, the Swanson Road Intermediate School community worked tirelessly to make this school year a success. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated staff and school community members who have continuously supported our mission of being dedicated to each studentโs academic, physical, and social-emotional growth.
Academically, our students had engaging, high-quality learning opportunities that bridged real-world experiences to our classes through diverse activities and community learning projects. We have spent the year sharing best practices and embedded the principles of UDL, technology-based projects, and hands-on experiences for our students. All of which added to the way teachers taught, students learned, and academic achievement continued.
As a staff, we expanded the social-emotional support to maintain the positive, safe learning environment at Swanson amidst the ever-changing landscape of education. Keeping our focus on our Pillars of Character and reinforcing essential qualities we hold near and dear as a learning community.
Moreover, we continued our commitment to helping others through mini-community service projects that provided students opportunities to have meaningful experiences that reinforced the importance of community, compassion, and kindness, the necessary skills for life. The majority of these projects were organic in their beginnings and led by SWIS students. The generosity of our students, staff, and school community was overwhelming. THANK YOU!!!
As always, I would like to sincerely thank the Auburn Public Schools, the School Committee, and the community at large for their ongoing support and generosity in helping to ensure the continued success of the Swanson Road Intermediate School.
Wishing you all a fantastic summer!
Yours in Education,
Dr. Susan Lopez
