Pausing Clubs
Dear parents and guardians,
At Lytle Elementary, we've always worked hard to provide our students with more than just classroom learning. We offer morning clubs where students can explore new activities, get creative, and have fun while learning. However, there are concerning issues we need to address. Some students have not been attending the clubs they signed up for; instead, they've been wandering around the school, which is hindering us from achieving the goals we set for these clubs.
We are facing another problem on campus: vandalism in the restrooms. Custodians have had to clean up graffiti from walls, floors, and toilet paper holders multiple times. While we believe in giving students opportunities to grow and explore, we cannot continue with clubs if students do not respect the rules, guidelines, and our school.
Our intention in starting these clubs was to help students grow, discover new interests, and enjoy learning in a fun way. It's disheartening to see students not benefiting from these opportunities as we had envisioned.
As a result, we have decided to temporarily suspend the morning clubs. During this break, we will examine how the clubs are functioning and ensure they align with our original goals. Our primary aim is to make these clubs more meaningful and enriching for our students.
We believe that by taking this pause, we can improve the morning clubs and provide students with time to reflect and move forward with positive and appropriate choices.
We will keep you updated on when the clubs will resume. For now breakfast starts at 7:15 Am and will stop being served at 7:45 AM. We look forward to resuming clubs soon and appreciate you speaking to your student(s) about positive and appropriate choices in respect to these issues.
Sincerely,
Wendy Carroll-Conover
