Carberry Elementary Newsletter
April 2024
Note From Mr. Alexander
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It was wonderful to see 96% of our parents attend the Parent-Teacher Conferences before the break. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education.
As we dive into the final quarter of the school year, a few important updates are on the horizon. In April and May, we will be conducting our final ISIP testing and ISAT tests. These assessments are valuable tools that help us understand our students' progress and areas where we can offer additional support.
As we head into this crucial period, I want to remind parents to encourage students to maintain a healthy schedule of rest and nutrition. Ensuring they are well-rested and nourished will help them perform their best during testing and throughout their school day.
I hope that each of our families had a chance to enjoy quality time together over spring break. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
Thank you for your partnership in making this school year a success!
Sincerely,
Greg Alexander
Principal, Carberry Elementary School

Carberry's Family Storytelling Night with Patrick Mitchell
On March 6th parents and students from Carberry’s Kindergarten through 2nd grade, along with parents and students from Little Huskies Pre-School, were treated to a baked potato bar and guest speaker Patrick Mitchell, the “Down to Earth Dad”. While the kiddos had fun games and activities separate from their parents, moms and dads were introduced to storytelling methods (without books) to greatly enhance literacy nightly at home all year long while celebrating individual, family, and community history, heritage, and culture along the way. Patrick’s engaging style of teaching along with his personal experiences brought new light to the benefits of sharing this type of oral family history with young children to improve overall literacy while at the same time strengthening family relationships. After the brief hands-on instruction period, parents and children were reunited to practice the skills and principles that were taught. It was a great night had by all!!
More information on these topics along with Patrick's work with the “Idaho Dad’s Matter” project can be found on his website: www.downtoearthdad.org. It’s definitely worth checking out!!
