Principal's Corner
We loved having so many special visitors for Grandparents Lunch/ Loved Ones Lunch. The hugs and smiles were countless. I am looking ahead to this evening and am eager to see several families join us this evening at our Open House today, September 11, 2024. Our Open House will run from 5:30-6:30 pm with each grade level offering two different sessions to attend. The grade levels will meet in various locations on campus and staff will be on hand to guide you to your grade level’s location.
We know that having siblings in different grades can be tricky when you are needing to be two places at once. Our hope is that by offering two different sessions for you to attend, this makes it easier to meet the needs of your family.
The first session will run 5:30-6:00pm and the second session will run 6:00-6:30 pm. Families unable to attend can expect the information shared out by their child’s grade level sent out electronically.
Visitors on Campus
We love seeing you on campus! Please help us ensure student safety each and every time you visit campus. All visitors are required to check in at the front office using our RAPTOR program. We kindly ask for your understanding and partnership.
Safety at Dismissal
Please remember the following when picking up your Texan at the end of the day:
Guardians who are picking up their Texan as a walker/ parent pick up from the blacktop must park their vehicles in a parking spot and walk to retrieve their child. Double parking at any time is not allowed. Parking spots open up frequently. If you are not wanting to park in a parking spot, you can join our car rider line and request a number here: Rider Number Request- New to Old Town Request.
Please utilize the crosswalks when navigating the parking lot. Let us help you safely cross the parking lot. Guardians should not cross the car rider line indicated by the yellow cones at any time.
Thank you for being mindful of the speed of your vehicle at all times and remaining off of your cell phone in the School Zone.
Our top priority is student safety.
Thank you for helping Old Town keep all students, families, and staff safe at dismissal.

On Time and Ready to Learn
Instruction begins for our campus at 7:35 am.
Having each student arrive on time and ready to learn is critical.
Should you arrive with your child after 7:40 am please park and sign your child in at the front office. To keep students safe, we do not leave any door propped open unsupervised without a staff member past 7:40am.
PTA
I want to remind you that joining PTA does not commit you to anything! You can visit their website to learn about all the opportunities they have available for you to get involved.
Remind Information - Stay Informed! We want your partnership!
Help us reach you in more ways beyond our weekly e-news and social media.
Remind is a free, safe communication tool that our campus uses to relay messages quickly and efficiently to our staff and members of our community. We would like to encourage parents to sign up to receive information pertinent to Old Town - for example: late buses, start delays, phone lines not working, etc. This will be a wonderful tool to help us all stay connected. Visit the website to learn more https://www.remind.com/families
Sign up for Old Town’s Remind account by texting @acbd9d to the number 81010.
Be sure to sign up as a parent
InfoSnap

This contains not only registration information, but permission for yearbook pictures, Google Suite, directory release, district release and information regarding the Chromebook 1:1 expectations/charges for lost/damaged devices.
Chromebook/iPad Apps
Throughout the year, we utilize online applications that will enhance the learning of your child and support and reinforce the concepts we are teaching in class. Before using these applications, we want to make you aware of federal laws and regulations that apply to the use of technology to support classrooms and require parental consent in order to be most effective. In order for teachers to use this online tool with student records or other information that could be personally identifiable, the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requires that your consent be given due to the possible exposure of your student’s information to the website’s operator or to other participants. In order for students to use these programs/services, certain personal information must be provided to the website operator. Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), these websites must provide parental notification and obtain parental consent before collecting personal information from children under the age of 13.
Please fill out the form for app approval (available at this link or on the campus website) for each child that attends Old Town. If this form is not filled out by the end of September 2024, it is assumed that permission is given.
