CMS Toppers: News From the Middle!
2.17.25
Honoring each President today!
Topper Up!
Hello Topper families - I have much to share with you this week! Below you will find highlights of our Sources of Strength Spirit Week, our all district certified staff professional development session with author, educator, and speaker Dr. John Spencer and a show of appreciation for our Community Engagement speakers whose message centered around student wellness.
Let's start with a huge shout out to the brave students who enlightened our students with what to know about the Sources of Strength Spirt Week themes this past week:
Brooklyn Ray
Allie Stumph
Katie Brinkley
Speaking of enlightenment, the district staff received some of that magic from Dr. Spencer who shared his stories as a professor, middle school teacher, and A.I. enthusiast through many different stories and encouraged us to embrace A.I. but to never lose the human element of teaching and learning. See below for some thoughts or take away's I had.
Student wellness was on display at CMS on Monday evening, February 10th as we kicked off a community-wide book study with the text The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haight. Sharing insights and wisdom with over 50 parents from our Chardon schools were the following community members whom we truly appreciate:
Tracy Jordan - Geauga County Sheriff's Office
Michelle Moore from the Child Advocacy Center
Kathryn Adams from Ohio Guidestone
Victoria Ware, School Psychologist serving Geauga County Educational Service Center Wellness Consultants Holly Jacobson and Jennie Canganelli
Kate Collins, a member of our outstanding CMS couneling team, was instrumental in organizing this event and is excited about the upcoming book study. Please consider joining us!
Enjoy the long weekend, Toppers.
Craig

Message from Ms. Jenn in the CMS Clinic
Hello Parents
We are still seeing Flu and RSV in the school
Please review good hand washing with your kids
Please review proper cough etiquette with them as well
6th-grade parents, please remember the 7th-grade vaccines are due in August.
They are due 1 week after school starts. The 2 that are needed are tetanus and meningitis. I do look often on the State vaccine website, but not all providers are affiliated. You can always get a printout at the appointment and have your child bring it to me. If you need an exemption form, call me. I have sent a few home via email and in person with the kids. I have only received a couple back.
Please continue to call the office or me with anything that is considered contagious.
We are almost to Spring.
Thank you
Jennifer Trittschuh RN BSN LSN
