
YSSD Summer Enrichment Camps
Summer 2025

Incoming kindergarteners and current students in kindergarten through fifth grade can sign up for one week of summer enrichment camp at no cost to their families. To ensure as many students as possible have the opportunity to attend, students will be asked to rank their camp preferences and may initially be limited to one camp. If additional space is available, students may have the chance to participate in a second camp.
Camp Schedule
Camps will be held from 9 a.m. - noon, Monday - Thursday.
Transportation is not provided.
Registration Deadline is April 7th
Registration will be open from Monday, March 24 at 8 a.m. until Monday, April 7 at 5 p.m.

Camp for Incoming Kindergarten Students
Kindergarten Camp
For students starting kindergarten in August 2025 in the York Suburban S.D.
Dates: June 23-26
Locations: Yorkshire Elementary or Valley View Elementary
Instructors: District Kindergarten Teachers
Kindergarten Camp provides an opportunity for our incoming kindergarten students to get a firsthand preview of what to expect their first year of school. This experience is especially helpful for children who did not attend preschool. Students who attend will receive a free t-shirt.

Emotion Explorers Camp
For Current Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade Students
Dates: July 21-24

Emotion Explorers Camp is a fun and interactive camp where we will dive into the world of feelings! Using the colorful "A Little SPOT of Feelings" series books, campers will explore different emotions, learn how to recognize and name their feelings, and discover ways to express themselves with kindness and empathy. Through stories, activities, and discussions, kids will build emotional awareness and be empowered to understand and manage their emotions in a positive way.
Camps for Kindergarten - Grade 5
Logic Game Camp
For Current Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Students

Are you ready for a journey where fun and education intertwine seamlessly? Play logic board games and embark on a thrilling educational adventure! Logic Game Camp offers a unique opportunity to sharpen critical thinking skills while having a blast. Students will have opportunities to be in a world where every move counts and strategic thinking is key. Campers will encounter puzzles and obstacles that will put problem-solving to the test. These games encourage players to think outside the box and develop effective problem-solving strategies. From deductive reasoning to logical inference, players will hone their ability to think logically and methodically – skills that are fundamental to mastering various academic subjects and real-world challenges. Many of the games are designed for multiplayer interaction, fostering collaboration and communication among players. Engage in lively discussions, negotiate strategies, and work together towards common goals – all while honing valuable teamwork skills. Students are welcome to bring and teach their favorite logic game! Chess game, anyone?
Travel the World through Books and Media Camp
For Current Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Students

Let's visit places around the world, see famous sites, taste other foods, and experience other languages. We will explore our global community through picture books and a variety of fun activities. Come to travel the world and experience the people, arts, and culture of their lands.
ASL Sign Language Camp
For Current Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Students
Dates: July 14-17
Location: Middle School
Instructor: Dianne Maxwell
Let your hands do the talking! Come have fun learning the basics of sign language. You’ll learn to sign the alphabet, numbers, and even create your very own “name sign.” By the end of the week, you’ll be able to sign words, simple sentences, and even “sing” a song using sign language. Join us for a hands-on adventure in communication!
Chess and Board Games Camp
For Current Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Students
Dates: July 21-24

This exciting summer program is designed for students in grades 3 to 5 who are eager to explore the world of strategy and fun. Our camp combines the timeless game of chess with a variety of board games, dice games, and card games, ensuring an engaging and dynamic experience for all participants. Students will engage in problem solving and critical thinking in order to achieve success and win it all!

FULL: Cooking Camp
For Current Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Students
Dates: July 7-10
Location: Middle School
Instructor: Rachel Fry
Students will learn the basics of how to navigate in the kitchen. Each day we will make at least two recipes. Students will be placed into groups and will learn teamwork and how to work together in a group setting to create delicious food that they can also make at home. Students will get their own apron to use and to keep at the end of camp. We will celebrate the last day by having a pizza party.

Campers will engage with peers in various theater related activities including improvisation, theater related games, and acting out scenes on the stage.

Too much screen time? Well it's time to play (or learn to play) those playground games of yesterday...kickball, dodgeball, 4 square, etc...let's get some fresh air and have some fun!
FULL: STEM Story Makers - Where Books Meet Circuits Camp
For Current Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade Students

Join us for an exciting summer camp where students will embark on a unique adventure combining storytelling with hands-on STEM activities. In this collaborative environment, children will work in small groups to design and build interactive sets inspired by their favorite storybooks. Using circuits, they will bring these stories to life by making elements light up or buzz as the narrative unfolds.
A dedicated maker space will be available as part of the camp experience, providing students with the tools and materials to explore their creativity and experiment with various projects. This space encourages innovation and collaboration, allowing campers to tinker and invent as they enhance their storytelling projects.
Throughout the camp, students will develop essential communication skills through live storytelling sessions. With support, our young makers will learn teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving while exploring the intersection of literature and technology.
FULL: Science Camp

Come explore and discover the world of science through fun, interactive science experiments! We will use the scientific method to guide our learning of chemistry and physics. Each student will create a science journal of fun, hands-on experiments to recreate at home. Get ready to make a mess and lots of memories!
FULL: CPR & Basic First Aid Camp
For Current Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade Students
Dates: July 14-17
Location: Middle School
Instructor: Karla Coffman
Taught by one of our district nurses, this camp will use the American Heart Association Heartsaver curriculum to teach rising 5th graders how to perform the basics of CPR for infants, children, and adults. Students will learn how to rescue a person that is choking, as well. Students will also learn basic first aid and will take a first aid kit home. Students will also receive a CPR manual to take home, and an AHA approved pocket mask and face shield. Students must be good, active listeners and must be able to sit still and kneel. This is a great class for children that have aspirations of babysitting! Be sure to wear comfortable clothing! A yoga mat or towel is recommended for kneeling, especially if children have knee issues.

Embark on a magical adventure where stories come to life! At Storybook Adventures Summer Camp, young learners will explore their favorite tales through hands-on crafts, exciting games, and interactive storytelling. Each day brings a new theme—building fairytale castles, hunting for pirate treasure, discovering amazing animals, and even becoming superheroes! Through engaging read-alouds, creative activities, and plenty of movement, this camp fosters a love of reading while making learning fun. Get ready for four days of imagination, exploration, and story-filled excitement!
