Here are some upcoming volunteer/service opportunities that still need to be filled.

We have discussed purchasing a plastic reed or two for marching band. Please take care of this ASAP. Below is information regarding what reed and strength to purchase. While plastic reeds are more expensive, it is less expensive and more convenient in the long run by going through less reeds.

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to rehearsal to put cases in locker, get any equipment needed for rehearsal, etc.

Each day this week we will:

• Start with sight reading (we will read one piece each day).
• Explore the G Blues Improv Etude as a GROUP, and have volunteers do individual improvisation.
• Practice the individual jazz etudes in preparation for our Region Jazz audition (September 22nd).

Objective 1 (Video submission of all three etudes at 3/4 tempo) is due by August 25th. Look for details on Google Classroom.

Playing Assignment #1 is posted in google classroom. It is due this Friday, August 20th.

• Have concert sticks, mallets, etc. available every day for All-Region music practice as time allows in class and lessons

ALL EQUIPMENT

• needed EVERY DAY
• needs to be taped/re-taped properly by the end of the week
• always keep a roll of black and white tape in your bag

ALL REHEARSALS

• individual warm up BEGINS 15 min before rehearsals; this means either spinning or reviewing drill

In June of 2019 THAT WYLIE BAND was selected and invited by the St. Patrick's Festival adjudication committee to participate in the 2021 St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland. COVID-19 prevented the parade in 2020 and 2021, and our invitation has been moved to 2022. Below is updated information.

Wylie ISD has approved the school calendar for 2021-22. This includes a fall break; however, all athletic and fine arts contests, rehearsals and productions will still run during that week. Meaning, even though WISD has a fall break scheduled, there will still be a football game and contests. This means there will be rehearsals too. Below is our plan for that week, so if you are looking to go away some time, here are the dates we will have games, rehearsals and contests.

OCTOBER 8-16 Schedule

• Friday, October 8 - Football Game (4:30PM-11PM)
• Saturday, October 9 - McKinney Marching Invitational (we are the defending champs)
• Sunday, October 10-Wednesday, October 13 (4 days) - NO REHEARSAL
• Thursday, October 14 - Varsity Marching Rehearsal 9AM-4PM / Football Game
• Saturday, October 16 - UIL Regional Marching Contest (advancement to Area Level)
