General Update
The SCC CAPS Technology Solutions Associates have been working extra hard over the past two months while preparing for their internships and finishing up first semester business partner projects. January was a new and exciting month filled with learning experiences and professional networking.
Internship Interviews
The Technology Solutions Associates ended last semester with interviewing for their current internships. For many associates, this was their first real interview setting and they were able to apply all the skills they have learned in CAPS to land their internships. This was an amazing opportunity for the associates to practice their interview skills!
Project Completions
The Rack House
The Rack House Kitchen Wine Whiskey recruited a team of associates to update their website and research different social media management companies. The completed website features updated menu pages, new color scheme, and a professional look and feel that mimics the restaurant. Thank you to The Rack House for this learning opportunity!
Foristell Chamber of Commerce
The Foristell Chamber of Commerce recruited a team of associates to build a new website for their chamber. The original website was old fashioned and not bringing business to Foristell. Their new website includes an interactive calendar, updated contact information, and a better ambiance to bring more business to Foristell. Thank you to Foristell Chamber of Commerce for this learning opportunity!
Francis Howell School District
The Francis Howell School District recruited a team of associates to build a new website for students seeking higher education. The Francis Howell Future Ready website is a tool all students in the district can use. The website includes information about ACT & SAT testing, state school requirements, and AP testing all in an organized easy to follow website. Thank you to the Francis Howell School District for this learning opportunity!
Guest Speakers
VR Presentation | Gene Feldman
Gene Feldman from Purina gave a presentation about Virtual Reality (VR) to the associates. Mr. Feldman talked with the associates about VR's place in the business world and the future of communicative technology in the future. The associates even got to experience VR headsets and motion controls!
Internship Best Practices Presentation | Raj Ganti
Raj Ganti from Charter gave a presentation to the associates on how to make the most of their internships. Mr. Ganti gave great advice about journaling, taking initiative, and learning office culture in order to get the best experience. The associates also participated in a role play meeting to practice skills they need in their internships.
Hour of Code | Dr. Dayu Wang
AM CAPS associates were introduced to coding at the Missouri Job Center in St. Peters as part of the Hour of Code activities. The class was led by Dr. Dayu Wang, an instructor at St. Charles Community College.
Cleveland City School District in Tennessee
The Cleveland City School District from Cleveland, TN visited the Technology Solutions associates to gain information about the CAPS program. This was a great opportunity for the associates to reflect on what they have learned and practice their presentation skills!
Events
AM Cross Strand Event at Delmar Gardens O'Fallon
Healthcare planned a cross strand networking event at Delmar Gardens to bring some holiday joy to the residents. Associates from each strand participated in events like Christmas caroling and making trail mix all while networking and spreading cheer!
PM Cross Strand Event at McClay Senior Living
Healthcare planned a cross strand networking event at McClay Senior Living to bring some holiday joy to the residents. Associates from each strand set up stations for the residents, including door decorating and ornament making. The event concluded with a Christmas skit performed by associates from each strand.
CAPS Alumni Event at Good News Brewery
30 CAPS Alumni students gathered to network with associates and reflect with Dan Vincent about how they are using and developing their strengths in college. Most of the CAPS Alumni shared that the CAPS program really helped to prepare them for college and found that learning communication skills and time management had the most impact for them thus far.
Francis Howell School District Board of Education Meeting - January 16, 2020
Dr. Nathan Hoven was introduced as the new FHSD Superintendent for the 2020 - 2021 school year. Kobe Thambyrajah provided CAPS updates to the board, while Luke Feldman represented Buffalo Wild Wings.

St. Charles County CAPS Program
The SCC CAPS program immerses students in professional environments where curriculum has been developed by industry professionals ensuring what is taught in the classroom is relevant to the workforce. In technology solutions, students learn to utilize technology in order to design products and solve business problems. In addition to working with technology, students have the opportunity to learn important soft skills and build their professional networks before venturing into the workforce.
