MIDDLEBOROUGH ATHLETICS NEWSLETTER
September 2020
September is here and we are still sorting through many details and logistics of the fall sports season. I want to reiterate that students in all learning structures will be allowed to participate in athletics. This includes remote learning, hybrid, and home schooling.
It is important to follow the updates that come from the athletics department and understand that there will be constant changes as we navigate the upcoming season. Please read all communication carefully.
On August 27th we received approval from our School Committee to proceed with our fall athletic program at all levels under the current guidance and modifications issued by the EEA, DESE and MIAA. We are very fortunate and thankful to have their support. However, as a member of the South Shore League we are now affected by decisions made at the League level.
The most recent changes that will affect our fall season are listed below.
- Start date for fall sports has been moved back to Friday 9/25 for all SSL schools.
- Volleyball has been moved to the "Fall 2" season Feb.22-April 25 but may offer a practice only/intramural option this fall.
- Individual schools will schedule sub varsity matches when possible recognizing the sub varsity schedules may be limited due to a variety of logistical challenges as we adhere to the guidelines and regulations.
Now that the season has been pushed back a week, we will move the opening of our registration to Friday September 11, 2020.
Final guidance from the MIAA on required sport modifications was released last week and can be viewed at the buttons below.

MIDDLEBOROUGH ALL SPORTS BOOSTER ASSOCIATION UPDATE
GOLD CARDS (Sachem Cards)
We are currently working on a plan for online sales of the Sachem Gold Cards that we have been selling for the past few fall seasons. This fundraiser has been very successful in the past and we hope to get all fall teams involved again this year. All proceeds go directly to MASBA and are used to support our student-athletes. There are always some great discounts on the cards. We will have this information available at the fall sports virtual parent meeting on Wednesday September 16.
MUCKEY'S REDMPTION CENTER FUNDRAISER
