West Oxford Owl
May 3, 2024
May has started with a flurry of assessments, and lots of new life. Second grade's chicken eggs have hatched and kindergarten's caterpillars have formed their chrysalises. First grade has planted seeds, and fourth grade planted a bunch of cabbage. We are seeing lettuce and broccoli in our garden, as we about everything from sustainability to life cycles. We welcomed many rising kindergarten and prek students to campus Thursday. They're excited to come to school, and we are excited to have them join the WOX family. On Wednesday, students and staff all over campus made me feel special for Principal's Appreciation Day with cards and flowers. I am watching iReady reading results roll in, and I am excited about how much we've grown since August. I see teachers and students talking together about their progress all over campus. We start mClass and iReady math next! Please take time to talk to your students about the importance of making sure they show us everything they know so that we can celebrate their accomplishments together. Each one of them have learned so much this year!
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We have a fun Western spirit week planned, but please encourage your student to thank their teachers and make them feel special this week.
The Book Fair runs from May 6th to May 10th and will be open during school hours. On the West Oxford Book Fair website, you can set up students' e-wallets and find more information about the book fair. The link to the site is https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/westoxfordelementaryschool.
