Titans' Times
Week-at-a-Glance (WAAG) for April 29-May 3, 2024
Making Earth Day Everyday
As we celebrated Earth Day earlier in the week, the focus of our daily prayers this week focused on stewardship of God's creation. This reflected the Legal Titans students' mission for the week: to practice caring for the Earth at home. This week, our Tuesday Trivia was about Earth Day, Word of the Week, and Funny Fridays, which will all be about the Earth! The students have learned much about caring for the earth and stewardship of God's creation. Hopefully, these actions are transferred to their actions around their home.
Blessings for a great week ahead!

Parent Information
PARENT SESSION Next Week: Starting a Social Media Conversation
Thank you to the School Council for arranging this important parent session to be held on Thursday at 6:15 pm in the school library!
The Parent Session bridges the gap between parents' understanding and kids’ behaviour and doing everything they can to start a positive social media conversation in homes. Participants will learn the scope of online activity of kids in grades 4 to 12, highlighting both the positive and negative. They’ll learn better questions to ask and come away with tools to lean into conversations about social media use.
Tips and guidelines will be provided so parents can make choices that will protect their kids while allowing them to enjoy the positive aspects of social media. Since most kids have exposure to social media, whether through their own use or through the use of those around them, parents will be able to reinforce good choices at home and allow kids to feel more competent, supported, and confident in their social media use.
Students' sessions for Grades 4-6 and 7-9 will be held on Thursday afternoon at the school.

Principal Positive Calls of the Week
Encouraging Independence
We often underestimate our kids’ capabilities or think it’ll be faster if we just do it ourselves when in a rush. Even though our intentions are to help, we run the risk of missing out on opportunities to encourage their independence. You may be pleasantly surprised at what they are able to do if given the chance! Sometimes, we need to slow down and remember that it’s not always about “getting things done” but finding ways to seize opportunities that will help build their confidence and develop problem-solving skills. Yes, conquering these small tasks may lead to some messes and imperfections along the way, but the perseverance, resilience, and life skills they will gain along the way will help set them up for personal and academic success later on in life. So, let’s embrace every opportunity and celebrate every little victory along the way–they all count!
Ways we can encourage our kids to try things on their own first:
Having them help chop veggies/fruit
Folding and/or putting away their own laundry
Helping take care of the family pet (feeding, bathing, walking, etc…)
