Attendance Reminders
If your child will be absent from school, please call the absent line at 781-344-7002 and press 1
OR send an email to omsabsence@stoughtonschools.org. As a reminder, students are responsible for making up work they missed when they were absent.
We can excuse an absence if a doctor's note is provided. You can do one of the following:
Drop the note off at the OMS main office.
Email the note to the school nurse.
Give the note to your child and have them drop it off at the main office when they get to school in the morning. (*Note: Check with your child to make sure they turned the note in. If there is no change in the attendance coding after a week, call the main office to check if it was dropped off.)
Fax the note to the OMS clinic 781-344-4065
Please allow up to a week for the unexcused absence to be updated in our system to excused.
You can find more information by reading the OMS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on our OMS website under "Resources for Families and Students."
Halloween Spirit Day
The OMS Student Council has planned a Halloween Spirit Day next Thursday, October 31st. Students can wear a costume to school or they are encouraged to wear black and orange if they do not have a costume. Please remember, all costumes must follow school dress code expectations (page 26 of the handbook):
- School appropriate clothing. Examples of inappropriate include: any clothing that displays violence, substances, alcohol, and/or any explicit or offensive messaging; clothing that is excessively revealing and/or undergarments showing
- Students must be able to be immediately identified. The following are not allowed: sunglasses, hats, hoods, or other head coverings (except for medical or religious reasons). This would also include no masks (except for medical reasons) and no face paint.
- Students must not wear anything that would interfere with school safety. Students should not have blankets. Students should leave props or fake weapons that may be part of their costume at home.
Winter Sports Registration is Open
Winter sports registration is now open! The deadline to register is November 29th.
We will be offering the following middle school winter sports:
- Girls Basketball
- Boys Basketball
- Co-Ed Wrestling
We will also have an OMS Dance Team that will perform at home basketball games.
Students interested in participating in winter sports or dance team will need to register through Family ID, have a physical on file in the OMS clinic, complete IMPACT concussion testing, and meet eligibility requirements (see pages 12-13 of the handbook). As a reminder, these activities are open to eligible students in Grades 7 & 8. If there are not enough students to make a team, these activities will open up to eligible students in Grade 6.
There will be try-outs for basketball and auditions for dance team.
