Mustang News - October 17, 2024
From The Principal
A big congrats to our Girls Cross Country Team for winning the TriPeaks League Championship as well as sophomore Elissa K. winning the race overall! Also well done to our Robotics Team for placing 1st in their first tournament and to our Manitou Monsters Mountain Biking Team for earning 2nd place at the Chalk Creek Stampede for Division 3! Furthermore, our Advanced Orchestra did a phenomenal job performing at their first concert this Wednesday night in the SILC Amphitheater! All of our students’ dedication and teamwork both in the classroom and beyond is truly inspiring.
We've had an amazing week at MSHS filled with relationships, deep learning, and opportunity! I have loved spending so much time in classrooms: students are collaborating on preparing for unit exams together, submitting multiple college applications during Free Colorado Application Days, creating beautiful paintings with an emphasis on depth and color scheme, and diving into the literary analysis in English classes.
Next week, we’re excited to connect with families during Conferences on Thursday, 10/24 in the afternoon, and Friday, 10/25 in the morning. We hope many of you will sign up to meet with staff members so we can continue to strengthen our partnership with you in supporting your student finishing the semester (and the year) strong!
Wishing you a fantastic Fall Break!

Painting students are working on graffiti paintings that emphasize depth and color scheme.
AP Literature students are collaborating on reflecting on how the themes of Mary Shelley's life are reflected in Frankenstein.
Chemistry students are working together to prepare for the unit exam on energy and phase changes as well as dimensional analysis.
Fall Family Conferences

A Word From The Social Studies Department
The Social Studies department has been busy with many activities from recreating statuary from ancient Mesopotamia, passing a bill through Congress, and sleep study practices. Students have been engaged in a variety of activities throughout the start of the school year and their demonstration of knowledge has been wonderful to watch.
A Word From The Theatre Department
Ms Harms' Pikes Peak State College concurrent enrollment class went this past Saturday to the ENT center to see the performance of Henry 4 & 5. We experienced the power of Shakespeare's words, the clash of sword fighting, and astounding performances.
Tech theatre students decorated the back SILC patio to support Mr William's orchestra student concert this week.
