Claypit Hill News and More
April 8, 2025
Dear Claypit Hill Caregivers,
Today is the 135th day of school. This means that we are ¾ the way through the school year. It is a great time to recommit to the positive habits and routines that have helped to make this year a productive one. While the temptation to coast to the finish line is always there, we encourage caregivers to stay the course. Please continue to encourage your children to do as much for themselves as possible. Remember, independence is the end goal!
With the arrival of April we really hoped for nicer weather. The forecast ahead looks bleak. Please know that we get the children outside for recess as often as we can. Please do your best to encourage appropriate dress.
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported the PTO’s Backpack Auction. We truly appreciate your generosity and support.
Today marks the final day of ELA MCAS. We hope to wrap up make-up sessions this week and next if we need to. We’ll continue testing again at the end of the month with the 5th grade Science, Technology and Engineering test. Math testing will begin in mid May. During this round, the students seemed to approach the test with positive attitudes. Thank you for encouraging your children to do their best without adding pressure. We appreciate you!
This Friday we’ll be rolling up our sleeves and cleaning up our campus for Spring. Thank you to the PTO for partnering with us as we grow more “green”! On Friday, we’ll pick up litter and beautify just a little. Many hands make light work. We’ll be working from 5:00 to approximately 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there.
Finally, our Just Like Me programming has wrapped up for the year. Thank you to our PTO and Elizabeth Wuerz for collaborating to offer education focusing on deafness, hard of hearing, learning differences, and a unit on autism. As you know, Claypit is a school that prides itself on being inclusive. We are truly appreciative of the parent volunteers, without whom we couldn’t have offered these rich, inclusive, learning experiences. Just Like Me programming is in line with our school value of practicing empathy. We know these lessons made a positive impact on our students.
Thank you for all you do to support your students! You are the most important members of their educational team.
Sincerely,
Marie, Kate, and Naomi
Lost and Found
The lost and found is full again! All labeled items will be returned. Please pickup all items by April 17 or they will be donated. Thank you!
5th Grade Fly Up Date Date Correction

Please accept our apologies for the misinformation.

Claypit Composting
Order compost, soil or leaf mulch for your garden this spring through Black Earth to support our cafeteria composting program. Claypit earns 15% from each purchase which we’ll put towards our 2025-2026 composting program. Our 4th and 5th graders have re-started our composting effort at lunch, and the program will eventually be rolled out to all grades. Thanks in advance for your support and happy gardening this spring!

MCAS Dates are Finalized
The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) provides districts with a testing window. We have scheduled our assessments late in the window to provide for as much time for teaching and learning as possible before the assessments. As a result, there is little time provided for make up tests. It is imperative that travel not be scheduled during the MCAS testing days. Please support our school by planning accordingly.
