From the Principal:
Dear St. Bernard Parents,
We are just one week away from our last day before Easter Break! There have been times this Lenten Season (there always are when you’re fasting) when we’ve remarked, “this Lent seems to be dragging on and on…” But now here we are and Easter is just 11 days away - and we are in disbelief. As I’ve tried to note in previous newsletter announcements, it’s not too late to recommit to your Lenten promises. Check in with your kiddos and make a serious effort to get to confession! I find that confession is like so many of those things that are truly good for us - it can be hard and we can find reasons to put it off, but once we do it we are so glad that we have. It’s another one of those things where you might (likely will) regret NOT going, but you definitely won’t regret GOING. So please, make sure your children have a chance for confession before we reach Easter.
In other Lenten news… Our 8th Graders will be presenting the Living Stations of the Cross this evening. They have been practicing and preparing for a number of days now, to lead the community in prayer. This is a beautiful St. Bernard tradition that we are excited to continue this Lenten Season. Aside from the 7pm Living Stations tonight, the 8th Graders will lead these same Stations next Wednesday afternoon for the full student body. Parents are also welcome to join us at that time.
Finally, I am happy to announce that we have made another hire for next year! While we are sad that Mrs. Beck will not be returning to teach 4th Grade, we are grateful that we have already found a wonderful teacher to step into this role for the 25/26 School Year. Mrs. Sara Reisiger studied Middle Childhood Education (with focuses on History and English) at NKU. She has a varied experience ranging from teaching in preschool, to Middle School, to most recently working with Pregnancy Center West teaching “The Body Matters” (Theology of the Body) curriculum in Catholic Schools throughout the Archdiocese. Mrs. Reisiger has been to St. Bernard several times in her work with PCW and is very excited to join this community. She loves our Catholic Faith and loves leading others in the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Sara Reisiger!
Have a great rest of your week. God bless!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ertel
P.S. Two additional things… We are still searching for the right fit for our open 2nd Grade Teacher Position, so please continue praying and spreading the word. Separately, we are still enrolling! If you know great families that would fit well in our community, please direct them to contact us!
TONIGHT!!!
From the Fourth Grade Classroom:
Can you please send us gently used children's books that you don’t want? Send any books to the 4th grade class. You can send books anytime through April 24th. Please put books in a bag with a sticky note. On the plastic bag/sticky note write:
Busy Bee’s Books
W.A.L.
St. Bernard 4th grade.
(William, Adam, and Lilla)
*These books will be used for our 4th Grade Business at the St. Bernard Spring Expo on April 27th from 11:30-1:00pm.
From Parents Club:
Hi All!
We know many folks will be attending the Stations of the Cross tonight, therefore, our April Parent's Club meeting will be moved to NEXT Wednesday (4/16) at 7pm in the library. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Now onto the good news - we are thrilled to share that our Nothing Bundt Cake fundraiser was again a success! Your support and generosity is overwhelming! For those that ordered bundt cakes, pick up will be next Wednesday (4/16) from 3-5pm in the Parish Center concession stand. If you need to make alternate arrangements, please reach out to Sarah Ross, Chelsea Blust or Brooke Williams. Thanks to Chelsea for organizing this successful fundraiser!
As we come to the end of the year we still have several exciting things coming up, including Olympic Day! Olympic Day is Thursday, May 8th (pray for beautiful weather)! For those new to the school, Olympic Day is a fun filled day for each grade to participate in various activities such as relay races, soccer, and a fun run. Students will have snacks and a pizza lunch at the fields, and then they will head to the buses to return to school. While the 8th graders run each station, we are looking for volunteers to help supervise each station and also assist with serving lunch. If you're able to help for all or part of the day, please sign up here:

Soccer Sign-Ups!!
It is time to start thinking about fall 2025 and our soccer program. The league like to have team counts set early summer, so that means we need to start our sign-ups now. Please visit our website for the link to register for next fall.
Katie Jacob and Brad Scheper will be our coordinators this year, so please reach out to them if you have any questions.
Lunch Volunteers Needed!
We need help facilitating the distribution of lunches for the students. On normal days, we need one extra adult per day to help our staff. On pizza lunch days, we need three adults to help distribute the meals. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!!!

IMPORTANT: EDCHOICE REQUIREMENTS
Our school has 175 scholarships awarded for the 2024-25 school year. There are two important steps that I need parents to complete in order for the school to receive scholarship funds to cover tuition costs:
- For each awarded EdChoice scholarship, I must have an Acceptance Form signed and turned in at the office. Nearly everyone has signed and returned them. If you have not already, please contact me in the school office. Thank you!
- Please follow the LINK to authorize St. Bernard School to deposit funds from the scholarship checks to pay for tuition. The Ohio Department of Education issues scholarship checks on a monthly basis which require this permission to be deposited. Please take care of this immediately if you have not already. Again, most of you took care of this. Thank you!
Please contact me in the school office if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!
Yours in Christ,
Kenny Glassmeyer, Office Manager

BLUE FOLDERS
Please return all blue folders to school each week.
BLUE FOLDER CONTENTS THIS WEEK:
- Fee Billing Statements (select families)
- Title I Envelopes (select families)
Blue folders will go home with the OLDEST student in each family on Wednesdays, as needed, throughout the school year. These will contain any important handouts or forms that need to be submitted in paper form. Anytime we can share documents in a digital format to provide information or link you to online resources, we will do so instead of filling your home with papers.
