Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy
Communication for September 2, 2024 - September 6, 2024
2024/2025 School Year
Greetings Members of the WWIA Community!
Welcome to the start of week two. We wanted to take a moment to express our enthusiasm for the year ahead and to share our high expectations for both behavior and academic achievement.
We are incredibly excited to welcome back our returning students and to greet our new students with open arms. The energy and enthusiasm in the halls and classrooms has been exciting and we are thrilled to see our school community coming together to embark on this new academic journey.
At Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy, we believe that a successful school year is built on a foundation of mutual respect, hard work, and dedication. Our teachers and staff are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters growth and excellence. To support this, we have established clear expectations for behavior and academics:
Respect and Responsibility: We expect all students to demonstrate respect for themselves, their peers, and their teachers. This includes following classroom rules, participating positively in discussions, and taking responsibility for their actions.
Academic Excellence: We encourage students to strive for their personal best in all academic endeavors. This involves being prepared for class, completing assignments on time, and seeking help when needed. This also includes all virtual and in person classes.
Collaboration and Integrity: We value teamwork and honest effort. Students are encouraged to collaborate with peers, contribute to a positive learning environment, and uphold academic integrity in all their work.
These goals are reinforced through our C.A.R.E.S. Program, which derives from our commitment to the PBIS Program here at WWIA.
We also believe that success is a team effort, and we are grateful for the partnership between our school and our students' families. Open communication between home and school is crucial, and we encourage you to stay involved in your child's education. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
As we move forward in this school year, let’s continue to establish meaningful relationships that will support our students and staff members. Together, we can ensure that this year is both rewarding and successful for everyone.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to making this year a great one!
Educationally yours,
Mr. K, Rosser
Principal,

Attendance Policy Information
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
