SM Angel Tree Annual Gift Giving Event
As the holiday season approaches, we remember those in our Downingtown community
who need our assistance in making the holiday season a bit brighter.
Our HSA and Springton Manor Staff are partnering together to support our school
community and sister school, East Ward Elementary, during the Holiday Season.
Springton Manor Families will have the opportunity to pick up a gift that will support a
family over the holiday break.
How to get involved: we will have an Angel Tree displayed in the lobby during
conferences, as well as, in our front office until Friday, December 6th. During
Conferences, please take an angel (or a few) off of our tree. Each angel has a name of an
item along with an item number. There are larger ticket options and small ones as well.
Please remember to sign your name next to the item number on the list located by the
display.
If you won’t be in the building from now until December 6th and would like to help,
please reach out directly to Ms. Andraos.
Next, you will place NEW, WRAPPED gift(s) in the decorated boxes in the main office
by Wednesday, December 11th, 2024. Please only buy the specific item listed on your
card. It will be important to remember to label the donation with the item number so
we know what family it goes to. The gifts will be disseminated to our Springton Manor
and East Ward families prior to the Holiday Break.
Additionally if you are a family who could benefit from this program, please fill out
this form. All inquiries and requests are completely confidential. If you have any
questions please reach out to Ms. Andraos at sandraos@dasd.org.
Best Regards and Warmest Wishes!

Message from the SM Nurse!
🍁Hi SM families. Vision and hearing screenings are underway. Please ensure that your student wears prescribed contacts or glasses to school. With fall in full swing, here are a few reminders to ensure students are healthy and ready to learn each day:
- Seasonal allergies and colds are common in the fall. Please remind your students to wash their hands frequently and to cover their mouths and noses when they sneeze or cough. If your child shows any cold or flu symptoms, keep them home to rest and recover.
- Mornings are chilly! Dressing in layers is recommended. A jacket and hat are great for recess and can be removed once inside. Stable footwear (sneakers) for PE class and recess is recommended.
- With the heat being turned on at home and school, hydration is important. Encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school and remind them to drink water throughout the day. Chapstick to use in school can help treat or prevent chapped lips. Moisturizer at home can prevent dry skin on hands and face.
- A nutritious breakfast and snacks packed with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provide the energy needed for a productive school day.
- Speak with your student’s healthcare provider. Getting a Flu vaccine is one of the best ways to keep students, staff, and families healthy this winter.
- There has been a rise in pneumonia and pertussis (whooping cough) cases in Chester County. We encourage you to keep an eye out for persistent or severe cough, difficulty breathing, fever, chills, chest pain, or a cough that produces mucus. If your child has any of these symptoms, visit your healthcare provider for an evaluation. Ensure children stay home if they are coughing frequently, as rest and hydration aid in recovery and prevent spread of illness at school.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school community healthy, 🍂 Your Springton Manor Nurses- Mrs. Yeager and Mrs. Bissinger

Red Ticket Recognition
*** We had some technical difficulties with the original link - please send your photos to Mrs. Force and we will look to post these photos around the school! ***
Mrs. Force: jforce@dasd.org
We are so proud of our Mindful Mustangs! We have so many kids earning those red tickets already this school year! We want to celebrate them! We are asking parents, to snap a photo of your child holding the red ticket that they earned with another family member (parent, grandparent, sibling - anyone). so that we can post them on our internal TV screens.
If you snap a photo - you can upload it using the link below. If your child earns more than one Red Ticket - feel free to snap and upload more than one picture!
