NEW ALBANY PRIMARY SCHOOL
February 24, 2025
Dear Primary School Families,
Welcome to the last week of February! We are excited to share the latest news, upcoming events, and important updates with you. Our students have been busy learning, exploring, and growing, and we can't wait to highlight their achievements. In this final week, we look forward to finishing strong and preparing for the month ahead. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a wonderful place for learning and community.
ENGLISH-LANGUAGE ARTS MATERIALS OPEN HOUSES
If you are interested in reviewing instructional materials for K-5 reading and writing to supplement the district’s current use of Heggerty Phonemic Awareness (K-1), Wilson Fundations (K-3) and 95% Word Study (4-5), there will be opportunities in March at all three elementary schools. These sessions are open houses, so you can attend at any time between 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm to look at resources and ask questions. Please choose whichever session best meets your schedule since K-5 materials will be available at all three open houses.
Tuesday, March 4 -- Primary School Main Entrance, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Wednesday, March 5 - Intermediate School First Floor Cafeteria Space, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Thursday, March 6 -- Early Learning Center Main Entrance, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Questions can be directed to Director of Elementary Education Scott Emery at emery.3@napls.us.
PARENT INPUT FORMS FOR 2025-2026 CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS
If your child is currently in grades kindergarten to fifth, and you want to provide information about your child prior to classroom assignments being made for next school year, you can submit a parent input form by March 24, 2025. You can find the online form by clicking here. The parent input forms will be used by the principals to help guide their classroom placements for the 2025-2026 school year.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR 2025-2026
If you have a child who turns five years old on or before August 1, 2025, it is time to register for kindergarten for next school year. To learn about the registration process, click here. If you would like to guarantee your child is enrolled in the tuition-based all-day kindergarten program, there is an option to submit the tuition deposit by March 5, 2025. To learn more about a guaranteed all-day kindergarten placement for your child, click here. If you currently have a child enrolled in the New Albany Learning Center Preschool Program who will be of age for kindergarten next school year, you will receive registration information directly from the ELC since your child is already enrolled with the New Albany-Plain Local Schools.
ONLINE REPORT CARDS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL FAMILIES
To view your child’s trimester report card, please access your PowerSchool account by clicking here and choosing the option “Report Card”. The report card option is only available in a web browser, not the PowerSchool mobile app. Any item left blank is a skill not taught or assessed during this trimester. Any item that includes an asterisk (*) designates a mark based on an individualized curriculum. If you have a PowerSchool account and cannot recall your username or password, please contact Michael Weisenberger in our technology department at weisenberger.1@napls.us. Mr. Weisenberger can also assist with other issues that arise.
WINTER PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Winter Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for the week of March 3. Please refer to your classroom teacher's communication if you are interested in scheduling a time to have a conference to discuss your child's progress.
Please reach out to your students individual Specialist if you are interested in a conference.
READ ACROSS AMERICA
Beginning the week of 3/3/25, students will celebrate Read Across America by engaging in reading activities that celebrate diverse representation in literature; and on Friday, March 14th, students will be invited to participate in a school-wide Book Parade! See the attached flier for more information.
FOOD DRIVE
Join us in giving back to our community this year. Our food drive isn't about competition; it's a collective effort to make a positive impact on those in need. Let's come together and make a difference. Take a look at our flyer to see what item your student's assigned house is collecting.
CANDYLAND IN THE CAFE
On Friday, February 28th, the kitchen staff will be hosting a Candyland themed lunch. The menu remains the same, and students will pack their lunch or purchase a school lunch as they normally do - the only change will be the scenery and seating! Students are encouraged to bring in a towel to sit on if they choose.

PTO UPDATE
Dear Primary Families,
We are so grateful for the incredible support shown to our staff on February 14th! A huge thank you to Duchess Deli and Jimmy John’s for their generous sub donation, and to Café Zupas for providing a delicious variety of soups to complement the sandwiches. The amazing food helped our teachers power through their workday, and we truly appreciate the kindness of these local businesses!
Additionally, the Primary PTO was honored to recognize Officer Warner and Officer Kelly for National School Resource Officer Day. Their dedication to keeping our school safe and fostering a positive student environment is invaluable. We appreciate all that they do for our school community!
