NMS Update 9.1.2024
Northfield Middle School 24 -25
Message from the Principal
Middle school families:
Our first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Students will transition from the cafeteria to their first hour maroon/day 1 class at 7:45 am. First hour class begins at 7:57 am. We do ask that parents not escort their students into the building. We have many adults and WEB leaders waiting to help out when they enter the building and get to their academic wing.
Crosswalk / Student Drop off: Students and families have an expanded front loop at the middle school with additional crosswalks. We will have Crossing Guards at Hwy. 246 and Arbor Street from 7:30 am - 7:45 am, to assist students cross this busy intersection. Parents that drop off or pick up their students at NMS should pull all the way around the loop to drop them off. We are also asking parents to not drive through the middle two-way section of the new lot during drop-off or pick-up times. This middle section is reserved for people who are parking and entering the building.
Thank you for your assistance with this and please drive slowly and keep an eye out for students and staff who are crossing on 246 and the parking lot.
Enjoy the remainder of your Labor Day weekend and we will welcome all of our students on Tuesday.
Greg Gelineau
Northfield Middle School Principal
Who is our NMS School Nurse?
Hello, my name is Carol Reed, but most people call me Nurse Carol. I have been the nurse at Northfield Middle School for 1 year and love it here. Before that I was a middle school nurse in Georgia. I have been a registered nurse for over 20 years working in many fields. Before I became a school nurse I gained a wealth of experience working in a rural hospital including ER, ICU, labor and delivery. I have also worked in home health case management and in rehabilitation specializing in working with individuals with traumatic brain and spine injuries.
When I am not at work I love spending time with my family. My husband Dan and I have 3 children: Mia, who is a recent graduate from UPenn; Maggie who is a student at the U of MN, and Noah who is going into 8th grade. We love all things outdoors, especially hiking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and gardening. Our family really loves music and everyone plays one or more instruments.
This family photo is from Mia's graduation: Carol, Noah, Mia, Dan, Maggie.
If you'd like to have your student receive over the counter medication (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc.) please fill out the following document and return to Nurse Reed.
