Student & Parent Newsletter May 20th-22nd, 2024
My Sincerest Thanks
Dear Fisher Parents,
The time has come for us to wrap up another school year. I would be remiss if I didn't take an opportunity to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful year. The only way a school can fully realize its potential is when all members of the learning community actively participate in its development and success. We are so blessed to have caring, committed families who want to their children and our school thrive. This is not always the case in some schools but I continue to be so appreciative of how our families pour into helping our students and staff.
What we continue to work towards is creating something special that lasts for much longer than the three years your child will spend at PJFMS. We know that middle school can be a roller coaster for students as they have so much to figure out about themselves and life in general. We want to continue to work alongside you to make that ride as smooth as possible.
I hope that you have an amazing summer that is filled to the brim with family, friends, and fun. Make memories. Relax. Enjoy. Be safe and forever and always... Go Firebirds!
Much Love to You All,
Principal Jeremie R. Smith

IMPORTANT! Student ID's & Success Criteria
We appreciate the immediate response from parents regarding addressing ID fines. Sustainability is the key to success here. As a reminder, we sent home any outstanding fees owed by your Firebird attached to their 2nd Quarter report card. You may also have your student access their Destiny account to see what fees are owed. These fees will follow your student into high school. It is a Greenville County Schools expectation that all students maintain a visible ID at all times during the school day and while they are in attendance at GCS extracurricular events. If your student has fines in excess of $50, they will be asked to report to ISS. We will be looking at our existing Success Criteria which is the criteria by which students are held to that would determine their eligibility to attend incentive-based activities. We will be sharing the updated Success Criteria with you very soon and plan to utilize it for the remainder of the spring. Please make this a priority to talk with your student about being responsible with their ID's and work to get any outstanding fees taken care of as soon as possible.
Parent Back Pack
Parents are strongly encouraged to create a Backpack account for their children. Greenville County Schools uses Backpack to provide parents with the most recent news and information about our schools. The Backpack for Parents account also provides parents, guardians, or contacts with a central place to sign in to:
- View their student's information including demographics, attendance, classes, grades, lunch balances, and test scores
- Apply or register their student to Special Focus schools and programs (Fine Arts Center, Career Centers, etc.)
- Receive alerts and notifications regarding their students
- View their student's school and contact information
- Manage parent and contact information for their students

Rising 7th Graders- Get Your TDAP Vaccine Now for 2024-25
IMPORTANT NOTE
Parents of rising 7th Graders should make getting your child's TDAP shot a priority this winter and spring. It will be extremely difficult to get into a clinic during the summer months and virtually impossible the closer we get to school starting. Scheduling an appointment now increases your likelihood of getting in and prevents your student from being excluded from school.
