Eagles Exclamation

Greetings From Prairie View Middle School
Dear PV Eagle Families:
I am thrilled to share some exciting updates about our students' achievements and the incredible work happening at Prairie View.
First, we are celebrating significant growth in our students’ NWEA MAP Reading and Math scores. This progress is a testament to the dedication of our teachers, who consistently implement engaging instructional strategies, the hard work of our students, and the unwavering support from you at home. Thank you for being a vital part of your child’s academic success!
Beyond the classroom, our students are making a difference in the community. Our Student Council has been actively collecting food donations for the Tinley Park Food Pantry. Additionally, they are spreading positivity through a Kindness Spirit Week from February 10-14. In addition to wearing themed clothing each day of the week, Student Advisory classes will decorate their doors with kindness-themed messages, with a special prize for the winning advisory. Students will also pledge to complete a random act of kindness, reinforcing the importance of compassion and generosity.
Our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) members recently completed a service project at Feed Our Starving Children, further exemplifying the values of service and leadership that we strive to instill in our students. On the athletic front, our Eagles are soaring! Both our Boys' Basketball and Girls' Volleyball teams are having fantastic seasons. We are so proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments. We love when our students come to the games to cheer on our teams. Just remind them to bring their school ID.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students excel academically, serve their community, and shine in all aspects of their school experience. We look forward to more growth and success in the coming months!
Best regards,
Maura R. BaskovichPrincipal
Attending Athletic Games @ PV
Students must have their school ID to attend games in the gym. Also, if a student leaves the building during the game, they may not reenter the building.

D140 Seventh-Grade Students Participate in Project RIDE
As part of Project RIDE (Reinforcement in Drug Education), seventh-grade students at Grissom and Prairie View Middle Schools participated in team-building activities and met with representatives from the Tinley Park Police Department, the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization (HERO). D140’s Project RIDE program raises awareness and provides education on several important topics, including internet safety, online enticing, cyberbullying, tobacco/vaping/marijuana prevention, substance abuse, juvenile law, and underage drinking.
Research strongly supports the view that the most effective forms of information and prevention are relevant and ongoing drug education programs in schools delivered by teachers and supported by agencies, resources, and the local community. Working together with parents and the broader community, KSD 140's Project RIDE program promotes the development of active and responsible decision-making skills among young people.
Project Lead the Way
PV's 6th grade, Pre-Engineering students participated in a design challenge where they created a prototype of an "Ankle Foot Orthosis" (AFO), a medical device used to support and stabilize the ankle and foot, often for individuals with mobility impairments.
