Starting this summer FND PEN will be hosting monthly webinars in collaboration with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida. We will cover a wide variety of topics related to special education, advocacy, and self-care.

FND Overview

Family Network on Disabilities (FND) was founded in 1985 by a group of parents of children with disabilities who came together for mutual support and information-sharing. FND is a grassroots organization for persons with disabilities and their families that is family-centered and family-driven.

Luz Oquendo is a Parent Training Coordinator at FND. Luz's advocacy journey began over a decade ago when her daughter was diagnosed with a rare disorder. She began educating herself on healthcare advocacy and the special education process to support her daughter. She is a proud graduate of the Florida Developmental Disability Council, Partners in Policymaking leadership program. Luz believes in the power of advocacy and is committed to educating and empowering each parent she works with to be their child's best advocate.
