Message from Dr. Carver, Our School Social Worker
Dear Royal Families,
In light of the recent tragic school shooting in Barrow County, I want to take a moment to reassure you about the safety protocols we have in place here at Renaissance E.S. The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority, and we are committed to maintaining a secure environment for learning.
Our Safety Measures Include:
- Centegix Badges: Every staff member is equipped with a Centegix CrisisAlert badge, which allows us to quickly alert school officials and emergency services in the event of a crisis. These badges are a vital tool in ensuring immediate action when needed.
**Locked Doors: All doors to our school remain locked during the school day. Visitors must enter through the main entrance, where they are screened by our office staff before being granted access to the building.
**Security Cameras: Our campus is monitored by security cameras, providing 24/7 surveillance. This helps us track activity around the school and promptly respond to any safety concerns. The camera are monitored locally and at the district office.
- Regular Drills: We conduct regular safety drills with both staff and students so that everyone is prepared in the event of an emergency. These drills cover fire, severe weather, and lockdown situations, allowing us to practice a calm and efficient response.
- Collaboration with Law Enforcement: We maintain strong relationships with local law enforcement, and they regularly visit our school to provide additional security and guidance.
We understand that hearing about incidents like the one in Barrow County can be unsettling, but please know that we are unwavering in our commitment to evaluating and updating our protocols to keep our school as safe as possible. Your trust and partnership in this effort are greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Together, we can continue to create a secure and supportive environment for our Royal Rhinos.

Parent Concern Chain of Command
We aim to provide great service to parents, guardians, and community members.
Here you will find our school's chain of command for addressing concerns related to specific areas. By following the steps outlined in the chart, the most appropriate individual will be able to address the concern or help find the answer. It is always best for parents or guardians to begin with the teacher.

Renaissance Family Handbook
Attendance Goal for 24-25 School Year - 90% of students with less than 15 days absent for the year.
The doors of the school are opened at 7:10 each day. Students can eat breakfast for free in the cafeteria before going to class. Breakfast ends at 7:35 am. It's crucial that students arrive at school before 7:40, as after this time, they are considered late and must be signed in by an adult. Punctuality is key to a successful school day.
Last year, less than 78% of students met the threshold for satisfactory attendance. Satisfactory attendance is characterized by being present at least 90% of the school year. That is less than seventeen days for students enrolled on the first day. This year, we are striving for 90% of students with less than 15 days absent this year. Regular attendance is crucial for students’ success. Please ensure your child arrives on time and is ready to learn daily. If your student gets sick, notify the school immediately by sending an excuse to renaissanceESattendance@fultonschools.org
or a handwritten note. Include the following information.
Student Name
Parent/Guardian signature, phone number/e-mail address
Reason for the absence
You can also elect to use Remote Learning Days. Remote days must be requested in advance of the absence. To request a remote day, notify your child’s teacher via e-mail and copy Stephannie Green, the data Clerk, at greens11@fultonschools.org. Each student earns five remote days per semester. Students will be given assignments to make up for the missed day(s) at school. When the work is returned, the student will be counted as present for the day(s) missed.
School Uniforms
Students are encouraged to wear uniforms. The Renaissance uniform is a red or black polo-style shirt with khaki or black bottoms (shorts, pants, skirts, skorts, etc.). Students can wear a college shirt on Wednesday or a Renaissance school shirt on Friday. School T-shirts will be on sale at the front desk.
Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program
Renaissance ES will participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program. The program provides a free fruit or vegetable snack to our students. The program's goal is to expand the variety of fruits & vegetables children experience, increase their consumption of healthy foods, and impact the children's present and future health. Students will receive this snack three times per week.
RES Lunch Program
All RES students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year.
The cafeteria will have extra sales like chips and ice cream for purchase during the lunch block. Students can bring cash or set up an account on MyPaymentPlus. You will need the student ID number to set up an account.
