3rd Quarter Bull Bash
As we move into the 3rd quarter, we want our students to step up to the plate and come in every day and give us their absolute best! Most (not all) middle schoolers are typically not intrinsically motivated, so moving into the 3rd quarter, we want to be more diligent in providing extrinsic motivation to help our kiddos meet their highest potential. This will start with communicating with our students and families the criteria to earn our 3rd Quarter Bull Bash. In the image above, you will see all students' requirements to attend.
STOP BULLYING - STAND UP. SPEAK OUT.
Conversations about bullying start at home, and we will continue to educate our students at school. Our teachers are doing a phenomenal job intentionally educating our students on this topic, and I hope you are beginning to see the impacts of this at home. However, as I mentioned in a previous parent newsletter, this topic will take all of us to tackle, and it will take time.
Social media has taken bullying to another level. Remember, bullying happens in many different places. We have seen many situations that arise at school, starting on social media sites. As parents, I'd like you to continue diligently checking your children's social media accounts. If we as parents do not regularly monitor our children's social media accounts, situations can quickly get out of control.
To help with the conversation at home, here is a brief video you and your child(ren) can watch to discuss the Impacts of Bullying. -- BULLYING VIDEO
If bullying behaviors are to continue, appropriate consequences will be given based on the Stanly County Code of Conduct.
Attendance Matters
Parents, we have many students with absences exceeding 20+ days. We all know how difficult it can be to get pre-teens/teens to school, but attendance is critical to ensure our students receive the best education possible. So unless your student is throwing up, has a fever, or has other documented medical concerns, please make it a priority to get them to school on time!
