Suwanee Jaguar Media Center
Reading is an adventure that never ends! ♥
Welcome! My name is Mrs. Lucie Peace. I serve as the media specialist at Suwanee ES. The library space is my favorite place to be! When you step into our library, I want you to feel seen, valued, and loved. I take a lot of pride in building a welcoming environment that is innovative and fun!

Our Media Center Space
Mission Statement
The media center is the heart of the school where students gather to foster a love for reading and explore endless possibilities. My vision is to cultivate a flexible, collaborative workspace for students to learn and explore. Our library supports the power of reading choice for all readers. Students have autonomy to choose their own library materials in the media center based on their preferences, interests, and specific needs. This empowers our students to invest in their growth and develop a love for reading.
Calendar and Hours
The media center is open daily from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
This is the link to our Weekly Schedule - https://tinyurl.com/sesmediacenterschedule
- Please use the tabs at the bottom to navigate to different weeks.
Procedures
- Students will visit the library throughout the week with their class.
- Library books are checked out for 2 weeks at a time and can be renewed as long as the books are not on hold for another patron.
Books on Hold
We love allowing students to place popular and favorite books on hold.
- Students can place two books on hold at a time. Students need to log in to the library catalog using their student eCLASS login.
- Once logged in, students should search for the book and then click the "make a hold/ booking" button. If the book is available for checkout, it cannot be placed on hold. Students can also cancel a book on hold by logging in and viewing the holds in the drop down menu.
- Once the book on hold is ready, the student will receive a letter. If the book is not picked up by the date listed in the letter, it will be returned to the shelf and given to the next student who has it on hold.

Overdue and Lost Books
There are no fines for overdue books. However, there is a fee for lost or damaged materials. Please encourage your child to locate the book and return it promptly to the media center.
If a library book is lost or damaged, the fine is $15.00. You have a few options:
Request the book to be marked "lost" by the media staff, so you can pay on MyPaymentsPlus.
Find the same book online and purchase a used/new hardcover book. Library binding is preferred.

Suwanee Media Center Programs
Read below for information on our media center programs.
Suwanee Jaguar News
The broadcast team is responsible for creating and producing the Suwanee Jaguar News each morning.
The team is open to students in 4th and 5th grade. Students are invited to apply at the beginning of the school year to be a member of the broadcast team. The ideal broadcast team member is supportive of others, capable of completing tasks independently, and must be committed to arriving in the media center by 8:00 every morning to prepare for the broadcast.
Not in 4th or 5th grade? No worries! We love to spotlight students each week for the leadership quality of the month or the Friday dance.
Readers Rally
Readers Rally is a group of students in 4th and 5th grade with a passion for reading. Students will read books from the predetermined list and answer questions about the books in a quiz bowl style competition. Each Gwinnett County School may choose ten students who exhibit a deep understanding of the books will represent the school at the county competition.

Book Vending Machine
In 2019, Mrs. Jennifer Duncan wrote a grant to the North Gwinnett Foundation requesting a book vending machine for our school. The grant was accepted and our PTA helped to make the purchase.
Little Free Library
In 2017, Mrs. Jennifer Duncan and her dad designed and built a Little Free Library for our school. It is located in the front of the school along the sidewalk. Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. It is our hope that you will visit with your child and find new books to read often.
