The Cougar Connection
Lafayette Elementary September 9th
Dear Cougar Families,
It sure felt like summer this weekend! Megan saw a concert at the Dillion amphitheater which was beautiful. She also got to see her nieces and attend their version of a Taylor Swift concert (in their living room) with a s’more finale. Robin cheered on her kids and hung out with great parents all weekend at hockey and basketball.
Our students have been busy in the garden! We want to thank all of our staff and volunteers for getting their hands dirty to teach these very important lessons and expose our students to valuable experiential education. Please reach out to our PTO for additional Garden to Table volunteer opportunities!
Let’s unplug before school! To foster focus, social interaction, and a positive start to the day, we kindly remind all students that technology use is prohibited before school hours. This includes phones, Chromebooks, and other devices.
We encourage students to use this time to connect with friends, prepare for the day ahead, and enjoy a screen-free environment before classes begin. Let’s start each day with fresh minds, ready to learn and engage!
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a positive, tech-free atmosphere.
Our educators are more than just teachers or support staff—they're superheroes! With the power of knowledge, passion, and dedication, they go above and beyond to inspire, guide, and transform the lives of our students. You will be seeing evidence of our superhero theme throughout the school all year! Please join us in supporting and celebrating our staff throughout the year.
We had a terrific turnout for our first Lafayette Parent Coffee Chat. Please join our PTO for a meet and greet on September 24th from 5:00-7:00 in the Lafayette Library.
Lastly, our PTO has been promoting the school giveback program for the Rockies vs Cubs games weekend of September 13th. The top three schools (in terms of ticket sales) will be eligible to nominate an outstanding educator, student, parent, or volunteer to be recognized on the field before the game on Friday, September 13. We are currently in second place!
Have you ever considered subbing? Consider joining our group of Super Subs! Apply today
Have a wonderful week.
Go Cougars!
Sincerely,
Megan Weir, Principal and Robin Stone, Dean of Students

Counselor's Corner
Counseling will deliver the Second Step Bully Prevention lessons in the months of September and October. The Second Step program teaches children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. It also helps our school be a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn. To further help our school be a safe and respectful place, we use the Second Step Bullying Prevention Program. In the lessons, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to: • Recognize when bullying is happening • Report bullying to a caring adult • Refuse to let bullying happen to themselves or others • Be a bystander who stands up and is part of the solution to bullying. Please encourage the message at home, as well.
