!! Residential Parking Concern !!

Residential Parking Concern

Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you of many concerns which have been raised by residents about parking outside the school and surrounding streets. To improve safety, there should be no stopping, dropping off, or parking in any of the areas highlighted in yellow on the map below. Also, NO LEFT TURN when exiting the property on Alameda (Please see Map). Please show the children good examples by obeying all the rules. Parking across residents' driveways is also not acceptable. In addition, it is a nuisance to the residents when impatient drivers press their car horns in an attempt to get other cars to move on. Please remember that the school is located in a residential area. It is an offense to willfully obstruct cars parked in driveways which can be enforced by police, but this will be used as a last resort as educating persons on safety and parking in the area is what we want to achieve. I appreciate that it can be very difficult to park near the school, but parking in this manner is putting your children at risk. Please allow yourself extra time to park away from the school and walk around with your child.

Lotus first opened its doors in August 2006 with 147 students in grades 6 and 7. Each year, its enrollment increased gradually to reach over 900 students, with grades spanning from Kindergarten to 12th. For over a decade, Lotus has instilled an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math in such a diverse and disadvantaged community. Today it is one of the most successful schools in Aurora.
