Message from the Principal...
It's already October. Hard to believe we are one month into the school year already. So many great things have happened in such a short time I can't wait to see what then next nine months will hold for us. Last week we marked Orange Shirt Day on Friday prior to National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Orange shirt day is an important day for school aged children, it is a time where they can learn at their own level the history that so many of us did not know about through our school years. It is the hope of this school to produce a generation of students that understand our history, as bad as it was, so we do not repeat it. I hope everyone took some time this weekend to reflect on their role in truth and reconciliation.
This week we will also celebrate all of our hard work and dedication to the Terry Fox Foundation. The official number we raised will be unveiled at our annual "Pie in the Face" assembly, but I am hearing we exceeded our goal of $9000. Stay tuned to our next news from the nest for some awesome pie in the face slow-mo videos.
I hope that everyone has a great week!

Indigo Love of Reading Campaign
Exciting news from the library. We have been chosen by Indigo to for the Adopt a School fundraiser. Thank you to Ms. Bienert for applying for this great opportunity.
I would like to personally invite you to join me in making a difference in the lives of the students at Mills Haven Elementary School by supporting us in this year’s Adopt a School fundraiser, hosted by the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation.
Every year, schools across Canada have the opportunity to apply for the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation’s Adopt a School Fundraiser, in which each Indigo, Chapters, and Coles store fundraises on behalf of a single elementary school. We are thrilled to announce that our school was selected to participate in this year’s fundraiser and will be supported by Indigo Sherwood Park! From September 13th – October 6th, this store will be fundraising on our behalf. If you wish to donate online you can do so by following the link - Mills Haven Donation Page

Volunteer Opportunity:
We are looking for volunteers to help on Sunday during the campaign at Indigo. Volunteers would help to run a Scavenger Hunt, a book themed Craft Activity and a Storytime. Total time in store for volunteers would be approximately an hour. Volunteers would arrive up about 20-25 mins before start time to get a name tag and a run through of the craft activity. A teacher, parent or child would read a pre-selected book for Storytime to the small group of kids/families. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Mrs. White in the library..
