PTSO News!
The SEAC Awards:
The SEAC are coming up and we couldn't be more excited, but we NEED your help!
We've had over 170+ nominations for awards. In order to give them awards and to make the event special, we need help in funding it to include things like: decor, awards, cupcakes, decor, and gift cards for the winners. This will directly benefit LCPS Students, Teachers, TAs, Parents, and Staff who have gone above and beyond what is expected to be inclusive of those with disabilities.
Will you help us put on another amazing event? Would you be willing to support us by buying cupcakes or helping to pay for awards. See if there are groups or individuals who would be willing to donate $25, $50, $100 gift cards.
We need the items listed here:https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080B45AFA82FABFD0-48175858-2024#/
If you are interested helping us reach out to businesses, please let me know and I'll get you hooked into our group: Jennifer DiDonato-seacvicechairplanning@lcps.org

Fine Arts News!
VMEA Blue Ribbon Award - Rock Ridge High School will again receive the VMEA Blue Ribbon Award for musical excellence for the 2023-2024 school year. This award is presented to schools that receive a "Superior" rating for their top performing ensemble at the District Assessments for each music discipline. Our school performed above and beyond that because every single ensemble from Rock Ridge that performed at the District Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Assessments received a Superior Rating this year. Congratulations to all our Rock Ridge musicians and their directors for this tremendous accomplishment!
United Sound - As students plan for what classes they will take next year, I would encourage them to consider joining United Sound. This class can either be taken for credit or students can do it during their Study Hall and not have it count as one of their seven classes for credit. Students have a study hall during the first half of the class and spend the second half serving as peer mentors for our New Musicians. This is an incredible opportunity to share your musical gifts with other students from our school. You create amazing friendships and experience the joy of discovering music with the new musicians. Check out this video about the program. I hope you'll join us next year!
Waltonwood Performance Opportunity (4/27) - Students from Rock Ridge have the opportunity to perform (any instrument or song) at Waltonwood Senior Living Center on Saturday, April 27 from 11am-12pm. Volunteer service hours will be awarded for those that participate. If you are interested in sharing your musical gifts with the Waltonwood residents, you can find out more details and how to sign-up here.
