The following featured Professional Development courses focus on Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (also know as CPI training), an essential tool for Special Education staff and a valuable tool for General Education staff as well! Nonviolent Crisis Intervention teaches strategies and techniques for addressing aggressive or potentially aggressive behavior while emphasizing the care, welfare, safety and security of all involved. Course focus is on prevention and de-escalation of risk behaviors, but hands-on disengagement strategies and holding skills are also taught. Participants will receive a training completion card from the Crisis Prevention Institute, as well as earning 4 clock hours.
Each of the below trainings is a Refresher course, aimed at staff who have completed either an Initial or Refresher course within the past year. Please note: DO NOT register for a Refresher training if your CPI participant card is expired. If your card is expired, you will need to register for the CPI Initial Training instead. Participants need to dress comfortably, as this is a physical class with hands-on demonstrations.
PLEASE NOTE: Certificated staff are NOT able to use PLD funds for any PD courses taken in August due to fiscal year-end restrictions.
