RED RIBBON WEEK
WE will celebrate Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 28th. Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Red Ribbon week started after the death of a drug enforcement agent in 1985.
WE encourage you to discuss the importance of a drug free life and making responsible choices with your children. Different theme days are planned during Red Ribbon Week.
MORNING CAR LINE REMINDERS
Thank you so much for your patience and support during the morning car line drop-off. Now that we have settled into the school year, we seem to have an efficient process underway for the morning drop-off.
Here's how you can help us to keep the car line moving safely and help to avoid traffic issues on Greentree Road:
- Please DO NOT park and walk your child through the car line. This creates unsafe conditions and further delays the car line.
- When entering the parking lot, please follow the cones to the car line and pull forward as close as you are able to safely do so.
- Once your car is curbside, please pull all the way forward before allow your child to exit the vehicle.
- Have your child ready to exit from driver's side of the vehicle. Please remain in your car. We will have additional adults at curbside drop-off to help students quickly exit their vehicles. This will also help to build independence as students learn to exit the vehicle and gather their own belongings.
- Please allow your child to walk up to the entry door independently. We need to keep this area clear during arrival.
**NOTE** Students are not to be dropped off at any other location on the property (i.e. tennis courts, front parking lot, etc.) ALL car riders must follow the directions above.
Thank you for helping us to make morning drop-off as safe and smooth as possible!
REMINDERS FOR WALKERS AND BIKE RIDERS
Walker Arrival:
Walkers are not permitted on the play equipment prior to the school day.
Students will enter the building as indicated on the side of the building closest to their home. Follow the Arrival Map (linked here) to determine the correct door to enter.
Older siblings may walk younger siblings to the door, and then send their younger sibling inside before going to their designated entry door.
Bicycle Riders:
- If a student will be riding their bicycle to school, this should be indicated on the dismissal form.
- For safety reasons, it is recommended that only fourth and fifth grade students ride bikes to school without adult supervision. All other students should be supervised by a parent or guardian when riding.
- Students must walk their bicycles when crossing streets and on school grounds.
- NJ Law requires helmets for children riding bicycles or scooters!
- All riders should have locks to secure their bicycles to the stands outside Door 19 near the tennis courts, or outside Door 8. The school is not responsible for bicycles or equipment.
- It is important that riders obey all bicycle safety rules and heed directions from crossing guards.
Students must walk or ride directly home. Students may not remain on the playground without adult supervision by a parent/guardian. Bicycle riders who must cross Greentree Road are required to cross at the crosswalk near the tennis courts under the direction of the crossing guard.

Fall Fun Fest & Halloween Parade
It is hard to believe that Fall is upon us and that we are more than a month into the school year. For many families, fall means trips to the farm, apple and pumpkin picking, and decorating with hay bales and mums. For some, the beginning of fall also means it is time to buy candy and costumes for Trick or Treating. Our Cooper PTA is working closely with school staff to plan enjoyable activities for all students and families this fall season.
Please click here for details regarding our Cooper Fall Activities.
YEARBOOK CREATION
Our PTA creates a beautiful yearbook each year for students in all grade-levels, which is available for purchase. Photos are collected from school events to fill the book with joyous memories of their year at Cooper. This year, the book will be created throughout the school year rather than at the end of the year.
By the end of month, any photos you would like to share from school events will need to be uploaded to the TreeRing website by logging in, using the code: 1014806030344299, and clicking the 'Content' tab, or by emailing the photos to yearbook@jfcooperpta.org. All photos of October events are due by November 1, 2024.
