RES MCAS ASSESSMENTS 2024
Grade 5 STE MCAS
Our 5th grade students will be taking the Science and Technology Engineering (STE) MCAS exam on Tuesday, May 14th and Wednesday, May 15th. It would be extremely helpful if every effort is made to ensure that students are present in school and arrive on time on all MCAS test dates.
Our students have worked hard over the past month on the state assessments in order to provide parents and teachers with more data about their progress in English Language Arts and Mathematics. MCAS testing will finish up for this year with the STE MCAS in grade 5. Please let your children know how proud we all are of their attention to and perseverance through the tests.

Notes from Nurse Wagner
If your child has borrowed any clothes from the RES health office, PLEASE wash and return them promptly.
Please remember to turn in a copy of your child's latest physical and immunization record.
If your child has any cold symptoms, such as a cough, please test them with an at-home rapid COVID-19 test. Free COVID-19 test kits are available from the Town of Rockport. Please also review the updated COVID-19 guidance below as well.
*** Updated COVID-19 Guidance from the
Massachusetts Department of Public Health ***
- If your child develops symptoms (fever, cough, congestion, etc.) of a respiratory virus, such as COVID-19, please keep them home until they are feeling better. For most respiratory illnesses, symptoms generally begin to improve after 72 hours.
- Your child may return to school as soon as they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours (without the use of medications like Tylenol/Ibuprofen) AND once any symptoms have improved.
- Your child is no longer required to stay out of school for a full 5 days. However, if they are still within the first 5 days of the onset of respiratory symptoms and/or testing positive for COVID-19, your child should wear a mask at school and keep some distance between themselves and others.
- Please remember that masks should fit well and cover both the mouth and nose.
- If you have a child who is unable to wear a mask, please consider keeping them home until their symptoms have fully resolved.
- If your child is exposed to someone with COVID-19 or another respiratory illness, please do an at-home rapid COVID test if they do become symptomatic or 5-7 days after initial exposure.
If your child experiences seasonal allergies (sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itchy eyes, etc.) in the springtime, please make sure to give them an over-the-counter treatment (as advised by your pediatrician) before sending them to school. This can help make your child feel more comfortable during outdoor activities that occur during the school day.
PLEASE remember to send a water bottle with your child to school every single day!
For any questions or to report your child's illness, please call the RES health office at 978-546-1223 or email rwagner@rpk12.org .
